"Stellar experience at La Bougainvillea! My twin sister and I were celebrating a BIG birthday and our retirements so we really wanted the trip to be very special and La Boug was just perfect! From our earliest communications, we felt that we were dealing with a highly professional operation which reflected warm hospitality, personable service, professionalism, and a desire to make our experience of Eleuthera as memorable as possible. When we arrived, we were greeted with a cool delicious rum and citrus drink and the relaxed vibe which continued to be the environment at La Boug for the rest of our week. We had chosen the See Sea cottage for the two of us so we could each have our room, bathroom and balcony and it was 100% worth it! The cottage was immaculately clean, well equipped with a "foodie-grade" efficient kitchen, a large living room, two large bedrooms (one with a sea view and one with a garden view), a small but refreshing pool, plenty of beach towels, a grill, picnic table, etc. We treasured the privacy and "homey-ness" of having our own place while also being able to quickly access the resort with its crystal-clear Infinity pool, restaurant, and .... oh.... the BEACH! Words cannot describe the soft pink sand, turquoise waters, and quiet beauty of La Boug's private beach: of all the beaches we visited, it remained the BEST! "

"It was so joyful being with another couple and our dogs so close to the beach and services. The power went out and the host immediately showed up to make sure we had matches for candles, he said ‘it’ll likely comeback on shortly’. Lit candles were almost Immediately extinguished when the power returned. Crystal clear plunge pool. 5 gallons of water, amazing upper deck off master….much much more in a cozy space by the ocean. "This was our second visit to Eleuthera, and our first time staying at this property. I mention that we have been to Eleuthera previously as we have a reference point for quality standards from a prior property we stayed at, and are aware of some of the infrastructure limitations that are present on Eleuthera. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property and will not be returning in the future.The bad:- We had to involve police due to a bag that was stolen from the poolside by maintenance staff on property. It was thrown into the woods (see photo). This resulted in us feeling unsafe to stay on the property (particularly with an infant), and needing to relocate to a hotel for the last night of the trip.- The property is in need of major maintenance (see photos). Windows that did not open, multiple missing light bulbs, cracked and damaged cabinets, almost no water pressure.- We did not have power for two nights, and did not have water for one day.- There is a major cockroach problem in the main house where the kitchen is. We found cockroaches in our food multiple times.The good:- Beautiful beach location- Great property set-up for a larger family- Christine provided excellent daily maid service- Property managers were responsive to textUpdate: When concerns were expressed to the property owner, a small monetary compensation was offered (that did not cover the cost of the hotel we needed to stay in for the last night). "

"Jethro was a very good host. The location was outstanding. It was a four minute walk through the jungle to a beautiful turquoise beach. There are more trees than the pictures show. "

"We enjoyed our stay in kookaburra studio apartment. The room was clean and we had all the amenities we needed. The beach chairs and cooler that were provided were a nice surprise. Small issue and they were right there to take care of it. Great location. Can easily travel from north to south end. We did not use the pool because we were exploring and on the beaches but it is there and maintained if you care to. Also, beautiful sunset right across the street. Would stay there again. "

"Snorkeling, stars and sunsets! This place has it all. Waves and fluffy pink sand for my kid and really great snorkeling for me. Sunrise from the deck, and sunset from the heated pool. Walk on the beach under moonlight and stars to 2 very tasty restaurants. House was super comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed, plus was close to town for groceries and what not. Can’t wait to return!"
