![The last of the castles on our recent tour of Germany, but by no means the least.

What a stunning setting for a castle!  Well worth a visit (the hotel right next door is very charming too!)

Wikipedia describes it as follows:
Mespelbrunn Castle is a late-medieval/early-Renaissance moated castle on the territory of the town of Mespelbrunn, between Frankfurt and Würzburg, built in a tributary valley of the Elsava valley, within the Spessart forest. It is a popular tourist attraction and has become a famous Spessart landmark.

« Absolutely fantastic hotel, exceeded all expectations. Excellent free parking, really nice friendly staff, & lovely modern well maintained decor. Our standard room was really spacious with comfy seating & a lovely bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean. The icing on the cake was the food. We ate in the restaurant & had the rump steak with salad & chips. The salad came out 1st & was sublime…..who knew a salad could be so good. The steak was equally excellent. Breakfast the next morning was...
