J’ai voyagé dans des auberges de jeunesse, bed and breakfast et dans des hôtels. C’est la première fois que je vais dans un hébergement où il n’y a pas de réceptionniste. Les stores de la salle de bain ne se fermaient pas. Je pense que ce n’est pas du luxe d’avoir de l’intimité dans cet endroit. Je vous conseille d’aller dans un autre endroit si vous voulez pleinement profiter de votre séjour.

The building is old but wasn’t renovated or kept clean since a while. There was dirt and stains on the rugs all over the room. The bathtub curtain was a lot dirty on the bottom like it wasn’t washed for a while. There were mold on the bathtub caulking all over. The window’s blinds were covered with dust and there were no towels in the room when we arrived.

Back to the future!
Be prepared to enter Olympics Lake Placid 1980! Our experience with the Pines Inn started long before our trip, as we asked for a lower-level room. We were travelling with high-end bikes and wanted to take them with us in the room. After a few back and forth with customer service, we secured a room on the first floor which was perfect for us. The rooms are small but comfortable, the mattress was just perfect, I would have appreciated a small fridge in the room or an ice machine. Decor reminds us of the golden age of Lake Placid, during the Olympics, the sitting room is beautiful and likely gorgeous during winter when a fire warms the place. In summer, the porch which happens to be the patio of the redneck bistro is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning.

Everyone was conscientious of the curfew When the staff is available, they were fantastic. If you had a question, you got an answer in a timely fashion. It was walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. Just a great experience overall.

Looking for an updated hotel w/modern conveniences? You won't find that here. But if you're satisfied with a small room, comfortable bed, and a quiet place for about one third the price for the area, then I'd recommend The Pines Inn. Original hotel built circa 1907 - could definitely use some remodeling. Small rooms w/o fridge or microwave. Old furniture/carpeting. Narrow hallways/staircases that creak/no elevator. Despite all that, room was clean, bed was comfortable, and hotel was quiet. Restaurant/bar was good, wait staff very friendly. Best advantage: walking distance to everything in town. Worst part: no front desk staff. Check in is pick up the envelope with your name/room # written on it that is left out in the open on the front desk. Check out same way - drop your key back on the desk. Didn't exactly give me a sense of security. I prefer to see an employee greeting guests as they come and go throughout the day and night to ensure everyone who enters the hotel belongs there.

We were in a room next to the stairs and it was extremely noisy. We were unable to sleep at all. The property had peeling wall paper, holes in the walls and stains on the carpet. I have no idea why there were so many five star reviews.
