The treehouse was definitely worth the stay. Even though it had no AC, it wasn't needed. The temps in the forest were perfect even at night. The sounds of the forest were amazing to fall asleep too. Woken to the sounds of toucans more than once. I would recommend having a car if staying here. Having a vehicle allowed us the freedom to come and go as needed. We did self tour of the property during the day andbit was nice. Separate, spread out log cabins. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. We saw a variety of birds hang out by the breakfast area. Three tucans flew by to hang out at a tree top. Issues: 1\. the cabins have metal roof for the property that is in the rain forest. I could not sleep most of the nights becaise of the loud sound of rain all night long. 2\. There wasn't enough doormat or provision to clean muddy shoes/feet prior to entering the cabin. The door mat was so small that it got dirty and unusable right away. This property was amazing once we found it. It is very hard to find as it is in a neighborhood behind houses, but don't let that discourage you. Im telling you how to get there so you can experience the magic. There is a small grass driveway between houses that leads into the jungle. There is a small wooden sign about knee height that marks the entrance on the right side of the driveway. We spent the night in a gorgeous treehouse with all the modern amentities and a great bed. The sounds of the jungle surrounded you with frogs, flowers, wildlife and rain and so much more. The staff were extremely accomodating and friendly they even come out to the street to help us find the place. Please note that the phone number on expedia for them is wrong, their real phone number can be found on google if you look up the property name. Very clean. Has AC. Awesome view of the jungle. The only reason why i gave it a 4 star is because of the bedding. The bed was not very comfortable. The pillows and sheets were hard. The bed also only had a thin blanket as a cover. My husband and I, while on our honeymoon, booked a few nights at Arenal Rustic Lodge. According to their website, their reception desk is open starting at 8am. Imagine our surprise when we pull into the property at 12pm and see absolutely no one there. We looked around, asked the people nearby if they knew anyone who worked at the hotel, and came up empty. We called their number SEVERAL TIMES, only to be sent right to voicemail. I left a message with my contact info and never heard back. (In fact, we only heard from the hotel once I submitted a complaint with Hotels.com.) We had a tour planned that afternoon, and we were due to be picked up at the Arenal Rustic Lodge within the hour of our arrival. Since there was no one there, we had no where to leave our rental car and luggage, so we were forced to find another place to stay. I’m writing this review on as many platforms as possible so people can avoid the awful experience we had. It nearly derailed our honeymoon. Please don’t be charmed by the idea of staying in a “treehouse” unless you want to potentially be stranded. We started our family Costa Rica trip in La Fortuna and decided to stay at Arenal Rustic Lodge. It was a perfect way to start the trip. The lodge is around 15 minutes from town. The family hosts were amazing and incredibly helpful. They offered great advice and were very accommodating. They let my daughters (age 11 and 13) feed the family's horse and they even took us on a hike of a local trail they are starting to develop. We stayed in cabin #5\. It had plenty of room for our family of 4\. There was a small fridge and fan along with a coffee maker. It was basic but had all we needed. The balcony was a perfect hangout spot to play games and listen to music. A table on the balcony would have been nice along with a few more chairs but we made due. We stayed for 3 nights in April of 2023\. We booked all of our tours ahead of time, but the family that runs the lodge was helping other guests with bookings. The lodge is centrally located. Our furthest drive was 30 min to explore hanging bridges. Most activities were within a 15 min drive. The daily "Gallo Pinto" breakfast was a perfect way to start the day. We were able to select our breakfast time every morning which really helped with our daily tours. Boendet saknade myggnät för fönsterluckorna (inga fönsterglas fanns) och när vi frågade om myggnät fanns möttes vi av en ganska dålig attityd. Sängen bäddades inte och golvet var ganska smutsigt. Inga hängare eller platser att lägga saker förutom golvet fanns. Inte ens på toaletten fanns plats att hänga upp handduk. Man stängde av vattnet och kunde inte säga när det skulle komma tillbaka. Detta hade varit ok men vi fick inget extra vatten att kunna spola med till exempel och ingen annan plats att gå på toaletten. ##### Voyageur vérifié Séjour de 2 nuits en février 2023 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Barbara Voyage en groupe 7 févr. 2023 Points faibles : Commodités, état et installations de l’hébergement The lodge itself is located in a gorgeous garden with lots of birds to be seen. Best if you have a car as the location is a hike from Fortuna. We weren't impressed to be without water for 24hrs due to area works and without hot water for the whole stay. The attitude of the staff who were otherwise friendly, did also not scream they recognised this as a sizable problem. Ein toller Ort mit sehr netten und herzlichen Besitzern. Wir hatten ursprünglich 2 Nächte in der Ferienhütte gebucht, da das Baumhaus bereits ausgebucht war. Die Ferienhütte war sehr gross und es gab einen kleinen Kühschrank im Zimmer. Auf der Terrasse gab es zwei Schaukelstühle und eine tolle Aussicht. Als wir dem Besitzer (Juvenal) beim Frühstück erzählten, dass wir gerne das Baumhaus gehabt hätten, machte er uns darauf aufmerksam, dass sie noch ein zweites hätten. Nach der Besichtigung entschieden wir uns, noch eine Nacht länger zu bleiben. Wir konnten ohne Aufpreis bereits die 2\. Nacht im Baumhaus verbringen mit einer wunderschönen Aussicht in den Wald. Obwohl der Preis für das Baumhaus teurer war, mussten wir für die bereits gebuchte 2\. Nacht keinen Aufpreis zahlen. Es ist aber zu erwähnen, dass das Zimmer wesentlich kleiner ist. Juvenal gab uns zudem auch super Tipps gür Restaurants und buchte für uns eine Kaffee-/ Schockoladen- und Rohrzucker-Tour. Allgemein ist es von Vorteil, wenn man ein Auto hat, da der Weg ins Zetrum zu Fuss etwas dauern würde.
