It is more of a vacation rental apartment. Next, I didn't understand the location of the apartment was not the same as the place to check-in, so I had to hike with my luggage 5-10 minutes to a location across from the train station. The staff is difficult to communicate with as they don't understand English very well and are busy cleaning rooms before 3pm, so you will have to call them. If you don't have international calling plan, they do have a What's App number you can call while connected to their internet, which they do respond to, luckily in my case. The other good thing about this place is that it's just around the corner from a nice grocery store and it has a washing machine; although doesn't appear to have a dryer, so you have to hang dry your clothes. Finally, it is convenient to Nijo station, which is convenient for travel to Arashiyama. We were able to have our luggage forwarded to the main hotel from our last destination and the front staff were extremely helpful. They have a separate English-speaking staff member for English-speaking guests to communicate with. Room was spacious though wished there was more storage space. Nice to have in-suite laundry but dryer was not very effective so we dried our clothes at the coin laundry nearby. Totally out of my expectation, the accommodation is superb! The location is just less than 5 minutes easy walk from JR Nijo Station, the big supermarket, drug stores and 24-hour convenience store are within 2 minutes of walking. The room is very new and clean, the bathtub, toilet and laundry area are all separated, clean and modern layout. The door lock system is easy and secured also. However, the accommodation has no front desk, the check in has to be done at another near-by hotel. The operator could have done better by simply post a notice in front of this house to inform people about this or write clearly in the fine print or email confirmation.
