For more ferry adventures, the ferry also goes from Southport to Bald Head Island. Under 2 miles to the Kure Beach Pier. Close to many great restaurants! Carolina Beach State Park nearby. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk including amusement rides, seasonal live music, weekly fireworks, fun shopping and seaside restaurants is just a few miles away. Four wheel drive on the beach at Freeman Park. Boat charters, beach gear and outdoor equipment rentals also near by. Lots of fun for the whole family! WALKING: Short walk to the beach using the private beach access path directly across the street. Fort Fisher State Recreation Area has easy hiking trails and is a 1 mile walk from Ocean Dunes. BIKING: Portions of Fort Fisher Blvd has a bike lane. Ride to Kure Beach Pier just under 2 miles from Ocean Dunes. Or take the scenic ocean path to Fort Fisher State Historic Site & Museum. DRIVING: Pleasure Island and all surrounding areas are car friendly. Cars are welcome on the Ferry. FLYING: Wilmington International Airport is located 23 miles from Ocean Dunes. RESPECTFUL REMINDERS: No pets, no smoking, no parties. FYI’s: Exterminating Service: Exterminating treatments are a necessary service at Ocean Dunes. They are scheduled to occur on Tuesday or Wednesday of the second week of each month. We inform all our guests in the event that the service is off schedule and may occur any week. The technician will knock. If you are in the condo, please allow access. If you are not there, the technician will enter to provide service. Service takes less than 5 minutes, and the technician will leave a note if he/she entered in your absence. Grilling: There are charcoal grills available for your use. Charcoal or gas grills are only to be used in the parking areas and need to be at least 20 feet from the building. No grills are to be used on any decks or underneath carports. Bring a white noise/sound machine- the condos arent super sound proof. Nothing that the owner can do about that so definitely still 5 stars.They were very responsive with questions! It was quiet and at the end of Kure Beach with little traffic. The location is a couple miles from bars/restaurants and noisy new home construction. I was thankful not to hear hammering at 7am. The condo is nicely equipped with all supplies stated in the listing. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and Door Dash was also able to easily deliver food to us as well. Patty is extremely responsive to messages and provides a wonderful Welcome Packet full of useful information. We visited during early Fall and made use of the indoor pool and beach in the afternoon when it warmed up. My kids loved the shuffleboard and all of the board games in the condo. The hot tub and the elevator were both closed for repairs during our stay. But from signs posted, these were temporary closures. I have energetic kids, so climbing 4 flights of stairs was not an issue. I would definitely stay in this property again. ##### Kelly S. Outdoor pool is right outside your room and they also have an indoor pool just a short walk away. We really enjoyed staying here for all sorts of reasons. First off, the condo was very clean, furnished well, and had everything we could’ve possibly hoped for in making our stay comfortable. It was evident that the owners were very thoughtful in providing high quality accommodations for all sorts of guests/families. The condo was immaculately organized and all of the important information was readily available such as in the form of a lovely binder containing everything you could think of that a person would want to know about staying there. We especially loved how the owners offered an entire closet full of items that could be enjoyed at the beach without us having to worry about packing extra. The owners were quickly responsive, very kind, and courteous when I needed to contact them with any questions while making reservations and their warmth was so much appreciated. We also loved all of the amenities this condo complex had to offer. The indoor pool/hot tub was super clean and a hit for the whole family. It’s so nice to have that option to prevent overheating at the beach and all of the preparation and cleanup involved. My only complaint - not involving the owners or condo - was that the elevator was out of service while there and the outdoor pool could use a better cleaning. Otherwise, the place exceeded our expectations and we were so appreciative of everything it and the surrounding area had to offer! The location was convenient enough for nearby attractions (just 1-2 miles from the aquarium, Fort Fisher, and the ferry terminal!), restaurants, groceries, etc., but removed enough that we were able to enjoy peace and quiet. We loved being able to walk right down to the pool, and it's just across the street from the beach access--you do have to cross the road, but on that end of Kure/Fort Fisher, there's not too much traffic, so it was not an issue. Check-in was very easy. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, even down to thoughtful details like plenty of towel hooks. We appreciated having elevator access for those with mobility issues and for unloading/loading luggage! The weather was perfect, so we didn't need to use the indoor pool, but it's great having the option, and the recreation center is so close. The kids loved the bunk beds! During our stay, I sent a message to Patty letting her know of a loose board on the steps outside the unit, and within the day, a work order had been submitted and fulfilled to repair it. We were very happy with everything and would definitely book again for any future visits to Kure! ##### Mike B. The washer and dryer was nice. It was very nice to be able to use the beach chairs and wagon provided. Easy walk to beach but note there are stairs to get down to the beach. Easy walk to indoor pool as well. The dish washer is really loud which is no one's fault or a major issue just good to know if you have smaller kids and trying to time that with naps/bedtime. The door to the balcony wouldnt lock but since it is in the 3rd floor it wasn't too much of an issue. ##### Sarah N. The decor was surprisingly similar to my own home (great taste!) and beds and linens were super comfy. The ability to use digital door lock made the checkin and checkout processes fast and easy. Since the owners clearly demonstrate a dedication to offering a great vacation experience, my only suggestion would be to add a non - stick skillet to the kitchen cookware.
