Our holiday homes NZ getaway, just north of Kuaotunu Village, sits by a creek flowing through native bush. Here, the stars shine brighter, the air is fresher, and the thing on your to-do list is to unwind. The Space: Kūaotunu Cabin 1 by Tiny Away sits in the coastal township of Kūaotunu, just 10 minutes from the beach settlement of Matarangi. Surrounded by native bush and a flowing creek, this tiny home offers an offbeat getaway, where you can spend time exploring Opito Bay or soaking at The Lost Spring in Whitianga, all within a short drive. Afterward, unwind with a pizza from Luke’s Kitchen or simply relax by the creek as birdsong fills the air. A comfortable 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers). By Flight: \- The closest airport is Whitianga Aerodrome, about a 30-minute drive from Kūaotunu. Flights from Auckland to Whitianga take approximately 30 minutes, and car rentals are available at the airport for the rest of the journey. A beatiful beach and a great dine in place just a few minutes drive. The cabin itself was nice and clean, though the bathrom area layout was questionable. Unfortunately, we were not realising that using the firepit would not be possible due to a fire ban. One of the evenings we were attacked by swarms of little beetles. Sitting outside, we had to be creative with using our car's headlights to attract them to somewhere else. Once inside, we were surprised to have no mosquito nets at all, which was utterly unexpected from an outdoor place. We were very lucky to have coils to burn!Despite of the above, we had a great time and think this is a still great accomodation for the price ##### Ilia N. This place was perfect for my 20 month old and I. Beautiful and quiet. No fuss for check in and the Tiny House was so minimal, great for kids who love to touch everything and want to be outdoors. We walked around the property and loved seeing the cows. Only 5 minutes to the beach which is perfect. Would love to come back in warmer weather. Community was friendly and the cafe food was delicious!
