This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We rate the overall experience Excellent as far as communication, check-in and location (can't beat steps away from the beach with an ocean view!). When we walked in, it was noticeable that the cleaning crew rushed through, leaving some sand on the floor and crumbs on the table and counters. Nothing we couldn't wipe up quickly. It’s a prime location in the low key town of Duck outside of the commercial areas. The pool was nice for the children although it was dirty at times and could use a better cleaning. The unit itself was in good condition. The patio view of this top corner unit was spectacular and the best in the entire complex. Views of the ocean were tremendous at all times of the day. The cleaning crew must’ve been in a hurry because they forgot to sweep up the kitchen floor so I had to do it myself.
