This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We only have wonderful things to say about our stay over this last weekend! The house overlooks a stunning, tranquil part of the sound, perfect for sunset watching and lounging on all the deck space. We filled up the house with our friends and their kids, and felt like it was well stocked with what you need, well cared for/updated, and made for a fantastic stay with 8 adults and 9 kiddos aged 8 months to 8 years. The pool and hot tub are in great condition, all rooms felt plush and with lovely detail. It would have been nice to have beach towels provided and the kitchen ice maker wasn’t working, but those were such minor things. Paulo was friendly and responsive, and even provided us with recommendations prior to our stay. 10/10 would stay here again! ##### Allie B.
