This is a dated yet quaint property in the heart of New Kingston. When I first entered my room, I was assaulted by a musty odor, which disappeared soon enough after I turned on the aircon (shouldn't the AC have been on before I arrived?). Shortly after my arrival, I was forced to kill a cockroach; throughout my entire stay, I also had to share my bed with ants (didn't experience an ant infestation or anything, but still...) All of that aside, I loved the rustic feel of the hotel grounds and the breakfast was quite good (chose the Jamaican option every time)...with few exceptions, the staff was also nice enough (I guess it's more difficult for some to balance professionalism and genuine conviviality, but alas ...)

The staff at the restaurant save and except for Claudette and one more female waitress whose name I don't recall now were unpleasant and seem as though they hated their jobs. My husband and I actually stopped going there to eat a few days before we left due to their unpleasantness. They don't smile and their attitude is much to be desired. Staff by the laundry in the mornings are disruptive with their loud laughter and talking. Most of the guest there I imagine are on vacation and would like to have some form of peace and quiet, so being awakened by loud laughter and chatter at 7:00 a.m. is not enjoyable and not what we paid for. Also, whilst the rooms we occupied were clean the bathrooms are another story, they need a lot of attention, a shower that have the whole bathroom floor wet when you are done because of the weird design, there is no door to the shower so when you take a shower it leaves the entire bathroom floor wet. Also water seeps from the shower floor to underneath the counter of the face basin which creates mould growth not sure how is it that no one sees that. The shower head and walls look like they haven't had a proper scrub in months.

We will be meeting tomorrow morning with all staff to remind them of the industry that we are in. Hospitality. What you have experienced is completely unacceptable. You are correct that most guests do not want to hear chatter or laughter from the staff especially in the early morning. Your information regarding the water in the bathroom is vital. We will take immediate steps to ensure no one else has that experience . The Supervisor has also been made aware of the issues and will be remedying with immediate effect.My sincere apologies to you both. Great central location. Front deck clerk could be more inviting and accommodating and less uninterested and bored appearing. Room staff were excellent. One joke from the server that I did not like was "the serving of human liver." She obviously thought it was hilarious as I heard her repeat it to another guest. In light of the reality of human trafficking and human meat consumption in some socities, the joke to me was quite sordid & inappropriate.

I think the property is a good, clean and safe place to be. The food is so so. Water pressure in bathroom was low and not much by way of hot water. I accidentally left my watch behind and when I called a few days later, it had been found and secured and my friend was able to pick it up. Honesty is a big deal for me and with my experience that is 5 stars. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay ( not my first and it will not be my last)

While some of the staff is friendly, quality and management systems seems lacking. The gym is a name, the electric cords for most machine were cut, the two with cord, not working properly. There is a bench press but no dumbbells, mats etc. Basically nothing for women. Kitchen service is dependant on the staff, catch or miss. Room cleaning was terrible. No cleaning for two days, when I complained, negative attitude from front desk. A trial to get some one to remove the two days old garbage. While they changed the sheets and towels the next day, the following day, they "fixed" the bed, but didn't bother to clean. Hairs and desk on the bed. Fortunately it was mine. The bins were again not emptied. Yes, unfortunately I was there for a week. Had a 4 days conference and relied on Expedia 8star rating. The management needs to get their act together. They have some good workers but inconsistent in and poor service speaks to poor quality management, i.e management systems.

Hi Ambica - Thanks for taking the time to write the review. Firstly allow me to apologize for the myriad of problems you encountered, Housekeeping service should be daily and thorough. I will be meeting with the entire team on Monday (tomorrow) with the aim of reminding them of their responsibilities and mitigating a recurrence of anything like this. This is completely unacceptable. I have forwarded your review to all departments. The gym is indeed in need of replacement of some of the equipment which have stopped working or have been stolen. Some have been ordered but not yet in our possession. No consolation to you , I know, but we will be having the gym fully functional in short order. Thanks for your observations. Stay on 19 th to 20 March - The room, 302, ceiling and tiles were cracked; The latch for the door was broken and the telephone was not working. My room had a king size bed but with only 2 pillows and no extra pillows were available.

Very convenient location-front desk staff was very courteous. Room 302 - However the room was unsecure, the safety latch was removed; telephone not working, cracked ceiling moulding and cracked floor tiles. A king size bed with 2 small pillows. Request gut additional pillows indicated non available as the hotel was completely full. Breakfast was okay - Jamaican meals were very exotic; mostly beef organs. There were limited flexibility in the local menu.

Our 2 Night stay at the ALTAMONT COURT was pleasant but frustrating. All Staff are Fantastically helpful and cooperative but what let us down were the lack of facilities and the need for the whole place to be updated. Our deluxe room was big and the superking sized bed was spacious and comfy. However the shower room was disappointing starting with the lack of toileteries and warm water to the lack of space in the adequately sized room compounded by a door that opened into the room with a metal door stopper that I kicked and trod on so many times it wasn't funny. The showerhead needed changing due to limescale and the room was in need of a lick of paint. There's penny pinching throughout with small portions of breakfast, small slices of bread, no bun for our chicken burgers so sliced bread had to do, no milk for tea, only one tea bag in the tray.....but the place is pleasant with great staff. The Reception Staff should tell you about the Gym, The Restaurant etc except just telling us the room number and pointing. I wouldn't stay there again until the place got refurbished

When we arrived we just didn’t get any towels or toiletries. We had to request them.
