It would be difficult to find a town in the Outer Banks with more excitement to offer than Kill Devil Hills. With a name derived from a sixteenth-century rum reportedly strong enough to kill the devil, there is no end to the attractions and experiences to be found here! Perhaps most notable of all is the Wright Brothers Memorial, a testament to the first successful airplane flight of all time, with a location just adjacent to the First Flight Airport. These two spots combine to fill the business districts of KDH with as many restaurants, shops and amusements as one can dream of. Not to mention the incredible beach, which this beautiful oceanfront home has full access to! What Kill Devil Hills provides in thrills, the Caribbean Jewel provides in comfort. Level one is decked out for a variety of games and fun memories, with a pool table, foosball table and close-by kitchenette, and even a theater room! And the attractions of the first level do not stop there, because it also features two King En Suites, one Queen En Suite, an En Suite with Two Double Bunks, and an additional En Suite with another Bunk Set to top things off. Level two is where another large part of the group will stay, as it features five King En Suites as well as Two Pyramid Bunk Rooms - one an En Suite and a Junior En Suite. But sleeping is not all that takes place on this floor; a variety of activities exist here as well! These include a sun deck with a hot tub and a lounge with a shuffleboard table and another kitchenette to boot! Level three is where the most lounging will be done, after a long day of adventuring in Kill Devil Hills as well as the wider Outer Banks area. This is the floor where the great room is located, great for relaxing and discussing the day's events, or perhaps your group would prefer to use the spacious dining area? Well, the kitchen and the adjoining wet bar can more than accommodate that preference! In addition to the rest of this, the third level also features an additional four King En Suites. Level four is the most contemplative area of the home. There are no bedrooms on this floor, but there is a lofted area with a flat screen T.V., giving a rooftop view of the stunning KDH oceanfront landscape. With all the socializing and excitement of a Kill Devil Hills vacation, it can also be valuable to kick back and watch the world whiz by as you sit, serenely, in the distance for a time. With its location and amenities, the Caribbean Jewel exemplifies the thrill and comfort of a Kill Devil Hills vacation, and we look forward to hosting your group soon! This property has 16 parking spots for guests. Want added comfort? Consider adding the Heated Pool option! A Heated Pool option can be added upon request for $50 per night of your reservation. This fee is added to your reservation at the time of the request, which must be a minimum of 72 hours before arrival. Pool heat must be added for the entirety of your stay. This pool is heated by a heat pump. An ambient air temperature of 60 degrees or higher is needed to heat the pool, meaning that if the temperature drops below 60 degrees the pump will not continue to heat. Max pool temperature is 80 degrees.\*\* \*\*Private heated pools will open on April 1st and close on November 1st. Hot tubs are open year-round. Pools and hot tubs are cleaned weekly and no later than 6pm on check-in day. Vendors are subject to enter the backyard to clean the pool and/or spa on scheduled cleaning days. Flooring on the top floor was crumbling under our feet. It was duck tapped down all over the place. Top floor cabinets were warped and the counter top in front of the stove was broken. The house surround sound did not work. The entire house was very dusty and dirty. We spent about two hours cleaning before the rest of our guests arrived. We had to vacuum the entire house because of how sandy the floors were. We could barely see out of the sliding glass doors because of all the build up on the outside. We ended up buying glass cleaner and a squeegee and cleaned them ourselves so we could enjoy the view. The walls in the bedrooms were full of skuff marks. When we changed the sheets, the mattress covers were stained and kind of gross. This is a beautiful home with an amazing view, however, it lack some basic maintenance that really distracted from our stay. With a little extra care and cleaning l, I'm sure this house can be brought back to life but until then, we most likely won't stay here again. This is a shame because we do a big retreat every year and this house would have been perfect. ##### Richard C. If you have a large family, or several family groups traveling together, this house is perfect for you. 4 stories, 16 bedrooms, so many bathrooms, and a kitchen on each floor! Gorgeous view of the ocean with a private walkway to beach, nice pool, and 2 hot tubs are waiting for you outside. We were a group of colleagues, and the location and layout of the house was absolutely perfect. Each room having its own bathroom was great for us - it was like we each had our own hotel room but we didn't have to leave the property to get there! The beach is right there, and the views from the house cannot be beat. The hot tubs were awesome. We did have some issues during our stay: - We paid for the pool to be heated, and it was definitely NOT heated. - The cleanliness of the house was not good. I'm not sure if they changed cleaning companies or were rushed before our group arrived, or if it was just in a terrible state after the busy season, but the floors were sandy when we arrived, there were bugs in the house, the windows were filthy, one couch smelled strongly of urine, and the dishes in the cabinets were not very clean. - The internet connection was not stable and could not support 18 of us being connected at the same time. - The communication with the host was slow and did not always resolve our issues. Regarding the internet, they suggested resetting the router, which was in a locked closet, so we could not do that. Regarding the pool heating, they said they would check with their vendor and never got back to us. We would stay here again IF these issues were resolved. ##### Kelli F. Séjour de 3 nuits en septembre 2024 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Barbara R. 30 juill. 2024 Points faibles : Propreté #### ONCE IN A LIFETIME FAMILY VACATION At first, it seemed tidy and clean. The day we arrived, 2 of our guests cut their feet on the floorboards in the main kitchen. They were in dire need of repair. The house itself provided space, big kitchen with adequate chairs at the 2 tables. There was supposed to be a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. There was none. One of the bath towels was broken and unusable. Multiple toilet paper holders were missing. 2 toilets kept running all day and night. The pool was great as were the 2 hot tubs. The decks were very messy when we got there. It looked like they weren't even cleaned or organized. The floors were so dirty that they had to completely mop the floors over again. Our feet were black on the first night! The top drawers in one bedroom had no knobs. Two screws were poking out (very dangerous). Some of the kitchen chairs were so wobbly we were afraid to use them. One of the counter height chairs had screws sticking out (they tried to make them safer by taping foam around them. Unfortunately one of the crawling babies discovered them and got cut on his arm. One of the beds on the second floor broke. Maintenance came and fixed it by putting a block of wood under it. it made the bed usable again. Noticed that the other 3 posts were already fixed in the same manner. The proximity of the beach was great, however, the nails were poking out on the steps that led you up to the dunes and pavillion (which was great for leaving chairs, etc during the visit) ##### Barbara R. Two of the toilet paper holders were broken in the house and the floors were not very clean, but all in all it was a good stay. Lots of room. Lots of entertainment: pool table, etc. lots of parking available. ##### Camille K. Beautiful area, the house is fabulous and well furnished. It needs a maintenance walk through to address all of the loose and missing things. The kids loved the game room and movie theater. Lots of time in the hot tubs. The weather was cool and even with a heated pool we found ourselves not using it much. For sure if the weather was better. I loved all the refrigerator space. Beautiful kitchen and several sitting areas. I enjoyed the daily sunrises with a coffee. I highly recommend this beautiful home on the beach for all. ##### Susan B.
