The location is very private. Perfect place to spend time with family. I liked how you can hear the water flow when outside on the deck. The covered porch was another area to hang out, and faces the forest. We made good use of the BBQ. And having camp fires in the evening was relaxing. We drove to Arrowhead provincial park for swimming and went kayaking/swimming at Beaver Lake close by. We couldn't make use of the patio furniture due to the weather, but did enjoy the view and the sounds of the rushing water. The large covered porch came in very handy as we could still sit outside and use the barbeque while it rained. We appreciated having chopped wood on hand for the stove, and also the Ontario Parks permit. We did manage to go hiking in Arrowhead one of the days. My husband and I (and our dog) stayed here for our anniversary weekend. It was very clean when we arrived and smelled like pine. Super cozy! As other reviews mentioned the doors are a hard to close but it’s doable! Not a problem at all. And as far as the “close to the road” it’s not a problem at all. I think we saw 3-4 cars go by the entire weekend. Very quiet road! Lots of wood for the little wood stove (which worked really well) We also went for lunch at red canoe restaurant which was about a 5 minute drive away. Great view of sand lake from there. Not a lot of trails close, be prepared to drive. Both close towns are around a 15-20 minute drive. The cabin is close to the road so just be prepared for that.
