The reception staff are very helpful and the rooms are a good size and well appointed (all have en suite bathrooms) and all have views out across the lake. The kitchen and lounge facilities are shared with the other guests, but this allows conversations and swapping tips about what to do and how to do it. It is easy to walk 5 mins down the road to visit the national park and there is a local bus that can take you to other viewpoints (e.g. Muelle de las Almas) but it only ran once up and once back per day when we were there. They do have a hot tub (wood fired, outdoors, uses the lake to source its water) which you can book at reception (they like 24 hours notice). Works better if you have a car (we did not, travelled to Cucao by local bus) and there is a local mini market for food supplies (they do not sell alcohol and they are the only shop in the village). There are restaurants and cafes within walking distance, but they are not all open all the time (we were there early season, so half of the restaurants were closed) and sometimes close early." We ended up here at the last minute due to other lodging falling through, and they were super accomodating, getting us checked in early. The rooms are a good size with charming wood-trunk & plank furniture, and the bathrooms are super modern and up to date. The rooms have lovely views of the water (we started in one and shifted to the bigger room on our 2nd night). The breakfast was robust and they serve dinner if you don't want to head into town. If I had friends in the area, I'd absolutely recommend Cumbres!"
