Along the beach is Whaler's Village where you can experience Maui shopping and dining with numerous local shops and restaurants including Mahina, Monkeypod Kitchen, and Leilani's. If you'd like to stay local, across the street is Dollie's pub and Miso Phat Sushi. A 10-minute walk toward the freeway will get you to local favorite Maui Brewing Co where you can sample craft beers and have a bite to eat. Lots of nice things about the rental, including quick access (10 min or less) to many different area beaches with great snorkeling and swimming, lots of restaurants and grocery stores, lots of thinks like foil and Saran Wrap in the kitchen left from previous renters. Bathroom had been remodeled and was quite nice. Few things we didn’t realize until getting there: there IS laundry but not actually in the unit, only on-site (bring LOTS of quarters if you plan to do laundry, is $1.50 per load and per dry), no actual beach access from the unit (even though condos right next door have a beach, it is private and not accessible), and hardly any beach stuff available for use (just towels/cooler/boogie board) unlike a variety of other units. Beautiful view of the ocean and nice deck, great location close to shops and groceries as well as some great beaches. We tend to be up an out by about 8:00 and don't typically get back to the unit until 8:00 PM, so we were not looking for lots of luxuries. To me, the best part of the unit was listening to the waves as they lulled you to sleep. The unit did not have air conditioning, but has the temperatures were moderate at night, this was not an issue for us. We made coffee in the condo, that was it. We had a few snacks, kept in ziplock bags. Never made a meal, just the thought of it made us sick. My husband killed countless numbers of roaches. We took the trash out at least once a day. The condo management tried to fix the problem but never followed up to see if the problem was fixed. The roaches never left. Luckily we only saw them in the kitchen. We have stayed at other condo's in Hale Ono Loa and have never seen roaches before. The condo it self was nice, could have been better. Yes the view was amazing. They did not remodel the bathroom. I have a thing about old bathrooms and with the kitchen unusable we were disappointed. I think the tub was original, clean but hard to tell it was clean because it was so old. The bathroom was a tiny room with toilet and tub/shower. The vanity had granite but the sink was stainless steel. Weird. Sitting on the lani was our favorite, very beautiful view. BUT the view isn't everything, when renting a condo you should be able to enjoy full use of the condo. ##### Colleen P. We stopped cooking here, stopped leaving cereal, chips, open drinks out bc of the roaches. Such a beautiful place, totally sad that we couldn't have THAT piece of mind knowing our meals had to be washed, dishes surfaces silverware EVERYTHING washed before-hand. We couldn't even used the toaster bc of the big ones we saw come out. The 8 that ran across my hand and waffle iron when I opened it was my final undoing... The tracks left off of it was enough of a sight that we were done cooking, eating or snacking here. We left alot of purchased foods from our 1st grocery shopping day here bc we mentally just couldn't do it. Beautiful place though ##### Suelyn M.
