Local shopping in Holetown includes galleries, art and crafts, Duty free, Boutiques and The Chattel Houses. Limegrove in an experience where you can enjoy lovely coffee, shopping , cinema and the local supermarket nearby gives a complimentary shuttle bus to help you back with your shopping. Buses are a great way of getting around on the island and are inexpensive, (approxamatley 2 dollars will take you to the end of the bus route destination, or yours within it's route) For a Taxi negotiate a price. A night of dancing, music, local arts and crafts all, A bus ride will take you all the way, i suggest a 5-30 ish bus. If you are on holiday at Easter it is the " Oistins" Fish Festival !! Barbados hosts many festivals, Sport, Music and Food For the Elite swimmer there is a open water festival (5 day event) International Hockey festival (1 week) Sir Garfield Sober Golf festival- is one of the biggest and popular golfing event in barbados attracting players from all over the world. Carlisle bay festival a watersports festival organised by the watersports Association in Barbados.An entertaining, exciting, festival enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. Food, wine and Rum festival in " Oistins" with international chefs, World Wine & Rum. Barbados Reggae festival, reggae on the hill, 3 days of spectular events and one of the most popular musical event on the island. Cropover Season - A 12 week celebration of Barbadian Culture, Arts,Crafts, Music, Folk, Dance, Masquerady and Relverly This traditional harvest festival began in Barbados having it's early beginnings on the sugarcane plantations during slavery. The tradition started in 1687, the big cropover weekend (last weekend leading up to the Grand Kadooment/ Carnival Day. These festivals are only a few that Barbados Hosts. To keep the calories off you may wish to visit the wellness center in Holetown which is The Nordic Center behind "Limegrove", here there is a small amount of gym equipement and tutored exercise classes are available for more information please enquire directly.There is a lot of fun to be enjoyed on Barbados with some great days out whether it be the island tour, gaining the knowledge of the brewing process of the local "Banks Beer" or the method involved in the Making of Mount Gay Rum. Car hire - i can put you in touch with a company who will have things in place for you on your arrival, a taxi transfer from the airport can be organised at an added cost. The former Discovery Bay Hotel which was situated adjacent to Art Studio Condominiums, has now been completely demolished and the site cleared. The site has been purchased by Blue Diamond Resorts who intend to build a new hotel on the site, construction rumoured to commence in May 2024 and take approximately 2 years. To date, despite numerous requests to Blue Diamond regarding the start date and details of the new hotel, no information has been received. Enquires have been made with the construction Company who have been retained to carry out the redevelopment work. They have said that due to to new build building techniques which will be employed on this site, any noise, dust and disturbance to neighbouring properties will be substantially reduced and should not cause any undue disturbance. But what is truly impressive is the proximity to both the beach (perhaps a 1 minute walk) and all of the Holetown restaurants and shopping areas. Everything is easily walkable. (We met some of them!) You're maybe a 3 minute walk through the small complex to the beach, which is nice and sandy for swimming and extends in both directions, great for walking. Lots of shops and restaurants within 10 minutes in both directions. The studio was clean and comfortable and exactly as described. Plenty of room to store our stuff, table and chairs both inside and out for dining, and even a sun lounger on the terrace for relaxing. Great shower, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off. Plus everything you need. Relaxing Caribbean decor. Julia cheerfully answered our questions, gave great dining recommendations, and helped arrange a taxi to the airport when we left. Many other guests were repeat visitors and were welcoming. A nice neighborhood vibe. There is construction going on next door. The noise didn't bother us. For a start our hostess Julia couldn’t have been more helpful and kind . We had a few extra needs this time which she went out of her way to help with. The studio is artistically decorated with a very well equipped kitchen comfortable bed a great shower. There is a ceiling fan and air conditioning. The studio is set in beautiful gardens and those working and living in the complex are friendly and helpful.The short access to a sandy beach facing West for beautiful sunset views also has safe warm swimming. There are plenty of restaurants of all types and prices nearby and a supermarket with everything you would need for self catering. There is a local bus service and although we didn’t rent a car that is an option with many sights experiences and gardens to to enjoy. It was actually a little roomier than I thought it would be from the pictures. It is definitely close to the beach as described. We had rented a car (ample parking) but the bus stop was right up the street and getting to Bridgetown or Speightstown is very easy, though somewhat scary as the drivers take turns at speeds you wouldn’t think possible. Definitely rent a car if you want to go inland or to the east coast. Back to the apartment: daily housekeeping was fantastic and the grounds well kept. Julia, the owner was very responsive and gave us a lot of useful information before our arrival. There is no air conditioner but the fans provided enough relief from the heat. Mar 25, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Excellent location for first trip to Barbados Holetown is a vibrant west coast district, with many services ranging from enjoyable roadside cafes to high end restaurants (such as the Tides), shops and a garage with a ‘no charge’ cash machine. Art Studios is tucked just off the main road on a public access route to the Beach – which is really is very close. Apartment 2 is ground floor of a 4-unit block (a total of eight apartments) with a South facing private patio with well-kept communal seating areas. It has plenty of space for two, with a well- equipped kitchen and walk in shower. Generous hanging space and shelves for clothes. Wonderfully quiet and reliable air conditioning unit. Wi- Fi was solid. Walking along the beach, in the Bridgetown direction, you pass a number of bars and restaurants facing the sea with the first mile. 2beds and an umbrella are available at 40-45BBD per day. In the other direction, Folkestone Marine Park is a lovely area with shady trees, benches and 2 beach cafes. Spectacular sunset views from these west coast beaches. The buses on the main road (an experience!) have stops nearby. The Taxi (Amigo) recommended by the owner was very reliable. He met us from our very delayed flight with no problem and is a very safe driver. We booked him for 2 other trips and a 6hr tour. Amigo is very knowledgeable and good company; highly recommended. The vibrancy of the area can result in music being played into the night, with cockerels and traffic in the early morning. ##### chris s.
