This quaint little hostel in the country was our first experience at a hostel. People were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the third floor and there was no elevator. The room we had chosen was a Japanese style room. We got to the room and at bedtime had to make our beds on the floor (not complaining just stating facts). There was a cafe in the lobby/lounge area. The food was good and pretty inexpensive. The place is also filled with manga, ping pong, game systems and other fun things for guests to do. Other rooms were themed rooms (as one of the other guests was very excited about their space themed room). The hostel was about a five-ten minute walk from a small train stop that took you to hiroshima or to the ferry for miyajima.
I was a bit apprehensive since I'm a solo female traveller staying in a hostel for the first time. I booked it out of necessity and ended up in a shared mixed dormitory. However, my experience at Omotenashi exceeded all expectations and put my fears at ease.
There were a lot of families with young children staying there and female receptionists who made me very comfortable. The people in my shared room were very respectful and I had some of the best sleep I had in days. The facilities were clean and the hot water was decent. Overall, I felt safe.
The front desk also held onto my suitcase while I went to explore Miyajima (I arrived very early in the morning). The hostel is close to Zigozen station, where you can catch the train to Miyajima ferry port. Very convenient location.
This places is awesome, very big, with the street train at 5 minutes ands is in the half way of the best places of Hiroshima. 25 min before Miyajima Island and 30-40 from the city and the memorial atomic bomb dome. Very beautiful place and the views of the sea are amazing specially in the morning. A must if you wanted to come to Hiroshima
There is plenty of room here for a family of 7 to be comfortable. We enjoyed walking down to the bay and it's very close to the Jinko station. There isn't much for food nearby, but the street car runs often and they have a menu of conbini type foods that you can purchase there. Lots of Manga to read, several TVs to watch in the common area, a little play area for young kids, plentyof seating for eating meals, easy to clean up after yourself, showers were never crowded. I would definitely reccomend and would stay there again.
