We were upgraded to a sea view room where we could enjoy the famous Torii gate from our window. The hotel was so quiet and serene, even as the streets outside were bustling with island visitors. Our ocean-view room had a view of the torii gate of the iconic shrine. Everything about the room from that view to the bedding to the bathroom was immaculate. We also enjoyed a course (kaiseki) dinner facing the ocean, and Itsukushima Iroha catered to our vegetarian diet needs for dinner and breakfast. She shared her own travel stories from Oxford and London, and even remembered I had an early departure, thoughtfully arranging a breakfast to take with me — a lovely touch. The room itself was outstanding — easily the best night’s sleep I had during my time in Japan. The location is ideal: peaceful and tucked away from the crowds, offering a real sense of escape. Dinner was pleasant, though not the highlight — the food was fine and service was great, but it’s not somewhere you’d come for a culinary standout. Superior Room with sea side view is super nice, with a view on famous Miyajima Torii. Do better than I did and book more than on night. I prolonged my stay, but unfortunately sea side was not available.
