The Metropolitan Hotel Ikeburo was quite a phenomenal hotel for the standardized room size unexpectedly. The room chamber upon entry was greatly spacious with a Japanese double-sized bed with lots of pillows, a built in sitting bank lining the window with overhead lighting and pillows, plus a very heavy round marble coffee table next to it. An oversized TV screen was situated directly over the built in desk with drawers for a coffee maker and mini-fridge to either side. The architectural interior design was aesthetically a French-inspired curvilinear wood and canopy woodworking throughout the room’s layout. Replete in deep teals, greys, and lighter greyed wood features. The bathroom was medium sized, larger than many smaller hotel units designed for single occupancy. With a clothes closet next to the bedside. Pros: ‘Great’ for one person. Cons: Not enough space for luggage, especially between two travelers occupying the same room. Hotel amenities such as a full sized gym was highly exceptional for athletes of all ages. What really sets this hotel apart is the sheer amount of on-site entertainment, bowling, shopping, dining, and more, making it feel like a mini city. Location-wise, it doesn’t get much better. The Shinagawa Station is literally across the street, making it incredibly easy to hop on a train and explore Tokyo daily. And when the trains stopped running, a quick Uber ride back was under $10 USD, convenient and budget-friendly. While I didn’t try the hotel breakfast, based on the overall experience, I imagine it would be just as solid.
