It was clean, bright (maybe a little too bright, as there were basically only sheers on the curtains) and homey. However, from a safety perspective, I would have expected that the sliding doors actually locked, were not just secured with wood in the tracks. It would also be nice if there were more places to hang towels in the bathrooms. The A/C worked well, except for in the master, but the beds were comfortable, water pressure was great, kitchen mostly well stocked. The location was great, the pool got good sun. ##### Karen L. Everything is old and we dealt with a broken oven and washing machine for an extended period of time. The pool is essentially unusable from February to April due to constant debris from the trees and we had to call several times to have it cleaned. Everything in the screened in porch was covered in pollen and dirty. Fortunately my husband is handy and fixed several problems we encountered throughout our stay. The property manager credited us at the end of our stay which was appreciated but we would not return due of the overall condition of the house. The property definitely needs attention. ##### Jon B. The pool is a great add, but needs some good brushing on the concrete. The location is great as it’s a beautiful bike ride to the beach and behind a golf course. Driveway was spacious. The property manager sent maintenance for all of the issues we had. Cons: a bit dirty, when we arrived there was a few things that were less than pleasant. Needs major upgrades throughout. The roku stick was having issues. The internet was spotty, if you are working and need zoom calls it can not sustain them. The pool is super close to the home and extremely dangerous if you have young children- so obviously need to keep doors closed at all times, but that comes with the territory of having a pool. Overall we had a wonderful time in Shipyard Plantation and it is quite a nice resort to ride bikes, play golf, or relax on the beach. Very beautiful, and lots of nature, as you would come to expect from Hilton Head Island. We have been visiting HHI since the 1980's so we have a good idea what to expect from many of the aging rental properties. Overall we were very happy with the comfort of the home and privacy. There are many small maintenance issues that are more of a concern for the homeowner rather than the guests. We stayed for a month with our 3 kids and were just fine with the size of the home. The 3 bedrooms, and 3 baths was a workable situation for us. The kitchen is a bit small with older appliances but we were able to prepare many meals at the house with no problem. The outdoor grill worked GREAT! And it was wonderful having the pool to cool off in the afternoons and with a bit of shade. So if you don't mind a little bit of an older home which is typical for HHI, this was a great place for us to spend our month of July. ##### Adam G. Aug 8, 2023 Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, listing accuracy #### Poor upkeep of property, many issues throughout our stay, not worth the price paid to stay here We were highly disappointed in the condition of this home considering the price we paid to stay here. The photos listed were misleading and obviously not current once we saw the property in person. The pool water was murky and there was lots of debris in the bottom. We asked for that to be taken care of and nobody came for 5 more days, even though we kept being told they would take care of it “tomorrow”, over and over. When they finally did come service the pool, something was triggered on the pump that caused the pool to start draining the water out. We notified the manager of the decreasing water level and that something was wrong, and it was not until a day later that anyone came to look into it. By that time the pool had drained to about halfway full and we couldn’t use it for our last 2 days there. The yard space consisted of overgrown weeds and dead plants and trees, including a tree that had broke and fell over against another tree and was just left like that. The house itself was poorly cleaned, as well as the outdoor screened in dining area. There were cobwebs and dust and dirt everywhere. Vents looked like they hadn’t been touched in months, lights that didn’t work, broken cabinets, there was something that appeared to be splatters of blood on the comforter in one of the bedrooms so we immediately took it off the bed, Screens were ripped and “repaired” by slapping a piece of tape over it, non-working tv in 1 bedroom and issues with the living room tv, and more ##### Dirk P.
