This location is ideal for a visit to Hawaii Island's lush tropical east side. Close to all the amenities of town, yet secluded enough to only hear the sounds of nature. Located in a quiet secluded neighborhood at a cool elevation minutes from beautiful waterfalls and downtown Hilo, where you can shop the famous Hilo Farmers Market. Come relax and unwind in your private tropical jungle oasis after a day of hiking and exploring all that Hawaii Island's east side has to offer.

This immaculately furnished one bedroom charming Ohana unit offers comfortable indoor/outdoor living featuring full outdoor kitchen with induction cook top as well as indoor kitchenette, full size refrigerator, comfortable queen size bed, private hot tub, private outdoor hot water shower, grilling area, new Samsung washer and dryer and Samsung smart TV. Located on ground level with a separate private entrance and one off street parking spot. Surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping and a robust collection of the local bird population.

Located 5 minutes from Rainbow Falls and boiling pots, and less than 10 minutes from Kaumana Caves. 10 minutes to Downtown Hilo where you can enjoy the best Farmers Market on the Island and many eclectic shops. 20 minutes to Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens, or less than 30 minutes to Akaka falls. 40 minutes to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where there are countless hiking trails and places to explore. Quick access ( 5 minutes) to Saddle road which connects the east and west sides of the island.

our favorite place to stay in Hilo
We liked the stay so much last time (21') that we hunted down the property for our visit this year. The layout is really nice for two and has everything you'll need. Hosts are great as well, very friendly / approachable. Final notes: LOVE the outdoor stove for cooking and the hot tub is a treat after a long day of exploring the island.

Peaceful, relaxing getaway
This is our second time staying at this lovely property. We came over from Kona side for World Sprints time trials for outrigger canoe and it’s the perfect spot for resting and relaxing after a long day of paddling. So cozy and peaceful. The hosts are so gracious, the accommodations well thought out and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. This is now our go-to spot when staying over this side. Looking forward to our next visit. Unique stay at the Rivendell Oasis!
Gregory & Dana have created such a unique and beautiful space. We were able to disconnect during our stay just as we wanted. Everything was working as described. Zen Retreat in Hilo's most beautiful neighborhood
This is a thoughtfully and tastefully designed private apartment situated in one of Hilo's most beautiful and exclusive areas. The Kaumana forest is about 15 easy minutes from downtown Hilo and offers a cool and relaxed setting. The amenities are excellent, featuring a professional quality grill, first class Jacuzzi tub and two well-equipped kitchen areas, indoors and out. The waterfall provides a calming backdrop to a Zen-like retreat, and the outdoor shower is an added delight. Access to the Saddle Road is easy if you want to see the mountains or drive to Kona for the beaches. The hosts are very gracious and available for any questions. This "ohana" style guest house is highly recommended!

Gorgeous private Oasis surrounded by Gardens and
I’m not even sure where to start. The apartment was spectacular. The outdoor kitchen was amazing and very well equipped. There was an indoor and outdoor shower. The outdoor shower is perfect for washing off the salt from the beautiful Hilo beaches before jumping into a hot bubbling Jacuzzi. We were met by Gregory when we arrived who showed us how to use the lighting, fans, hot tub etc. Greg, Dana and Mom Claudette were lovely and Simon the Cat welcomed us often when we arrived from exploring. Great location with easy access to Hilo, Volcano National Park, beaches and waterfalls. Hilo is full of cute shops and restaurants but is away from the crowds of the Kona Coast. I would totally recommend this home for your travels and hope to come back here on our next trip to the Big Island!

Truly an oasis!
"Welcome to Rivendell!" What a wonderful and perfect greeting you gave us upon our arrival. I was difficult to leave such a beautiful oasis. We so thoroughly enjoyed our stay - - listening to the waterfall and birds,, relaxing in the hot tub, and experiencing the peace and tranquility. Thank you for all you did to make our stay so comfortable. You both have created such a lovely place to get away. We always looked forward to returning each evening to relax. Awesome stay at Rivendell Oasis!
This place was fantastic! The balance of indoor/ outdoor living was perfect! The spa and waterfall were a dream! Gregory and Dana were perfect hosts - responsive and they provided many great recommendations for activities and dining. Every need was anticipated. The bed was very comfortable. We cannot imagine a more perfect stay!!

Truly an Oasis
This property is very cool. We were in love with the outdoor kitchen and the beautiful grounds of the property. It is an Ohana suite on the owners home but they were very courteous of our privacy and we barely knew they were there. The induction stovetop required me to read the instruction manual (provided). The outdoor shower was a surprise favorite of ours. The hot tub was inoperable for our stay and I believe that it went out the night before we arrived. The owners informed us when we arrived and tried to fix it while we were there but they did not have luck so we were unable to use the hot tub - which was the main reason we booked this property. We understand that these things happen but it was a disappointment to say the least. Aside from that little hiccup, we loved the quiet and gorgeous neighborhood , the frog songs at night and the tranquility of the location.
