Hawks Nest is a relaxed seaside town on the NSW Mid North Coast. Lies along an unspoiled stretch of coastline near Port Stephens nestled at the mouth of a spectacular network of lakes which cover an area 4.5 times the size of Sydney Harbour. A boating and fishing paradise, the region is also surrounded by magnificent surf beaches and offers visitors a tranquil mini-break just 2.5 hours north of Sydney and only 40 minutes from Newcastle. The idyllic haven of Hawks Nest is a slow-paced village flanked by expansive lakes, rivers, bushland and spectacular East Coast shoreline. Thanks to the array of outdoor activities on offer, beautiful landscapes to explore and friendly community vibe, this is a favourite destination for people from all walks of life a special place where nature and people live and play in harmony. This tranquil paradise offers an array of activities and attractions. Due to the many waterways, water sports and fishing is a favourite pastime for visitors and residents alike, and there are plenty of local businesses available to assist. By Air: Sydney Airport 200km away or Newcastle Airport 50km away  
By Road: 2 hours from Sydney by car travel F1 freeway  
By public transport: Catch a train Sydney to Merewether (Newcastle) and connect by bus from there to Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens. You can also fly from Sydney to Newcastle (Williamstown Airport) and connect by bus from there.

Look for koalas in the reserve along Kingfisher Avenue.  
Walk to the top of Yacaaba Head, which guards the northern approach to Port Stephens - but be prepared for a tough climb.  
Fishing in the lakes, the bay or out in the ocean.  
Bird-watching on Myall Lakes  
A long stroll on majestic Hawks Nest Beach.  
Swimming, surfing, wind surfing, waterskiing, diving, canoeing  
Pursuing the 4WD tracks both north and south of town.  
Mungo Brush Road through Myall Lakes National Park for Wildflower - Rainforest Walks.  
Walk to The Dark Point - this trail will takes you across giant sand dunes to an Aboriginal midden and the Little Gibber Headland - best spot for diving or snorkling.

The Myall Prawn Festival, in March, features the world Prawn Eating Championship, boat races, sand modeling, a tug-of-war, an art exhibition and sale, stalls and heaps of prawns.  
Enjoy the surf at Bennetts Beach, the calm waters of Jimmy's Beach on Port Stephens Bay or the beautiful Myall River. All 3 waterways are within walking distance of this wonderful accommodation.
