This beautifully upgraded top floor "penthouse" suite boasts one of the best one bedroom locations available at Honua Kai. Enjoy generous partial ocean views from the balcony and primary bedroom in addition to great views of the verdant West Maui Mountains. This suite has a southern exposure which equates to more natural light and less direct wind. This generates the perfect balance for Hawaiian air conditioning in addition to the central air conditioning.  
  
The kitchen is fully appointed with stainless steel Bosch appliances and granite countertops, as well as our commercial grade Vitamix blender for use with smoothies or libations of your choice. One of the hallmarks of this suite is its southern exposure which offers morning sunshine shelter from the northeast trade winds. All of the creature comforts you expect coupled with the experience that Honua Kai offers.  
  
Hokulani 818 has a generous layout and can sleep 4 guests comfortably with the king-size bed in the primary bedroom and an upgraded new memory foam queen sofa sleeper in the living room. The elegant bathroom features a separate glass shower, or you may wish to relax with a soak in the tub as the day fades into a tranquil tropical evening.  
  
We encourage you to express your culinary creativity in the fully appointed kitchen. We have provided every appliance & utensil to concoct the perfect meal or refreshment... just bring the ingredients. Enjoy your meals on the spacious lanai or dine in the climate controlled air conditioning. Also, our commercial grade Vitamix blender lends itself well to local produce smoothies or creative libations.  
  
Take pleasure in spending your days at the resort’s three-acre aquatic playground. With four separate swimming pools, a waterslide, waterfalls, fountains, and four hot tubs, there will be no shortage of options for you and your loved ones to enjoy.  
  
When it is time for a bite to eat, Honua Kai is home to the popular Duke’s Beach House, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. Duke’s specializes in serving up Hawaiian-inspired cuisine using locally sourced ingredients and freshly caught seafood. #### Great location, a few quirks. 

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Honua Kai. The facilities are great and the view from the lanai is awesome. There were a couple of issues with the property. The elevators unfortunately were out of order multiple days. They did fix them but then they would be out of order again the next day. We had two different maintenance people, on different days,walk into the unit unannounced. I did contact the Property Manager after it happened the first time and they ensured it was a one off. Then, it happened the next day again. Otherwise, the unit is comfortable and great for a longer stay in Maui.

We had a fabulous time staying at the Honua Kai. Everything was perfect!!! We highly recommend this place for a family vacation. Condo had everything we needed… views, cleanliness, location, fully stocked kitchen, excellent snorkeling and an amazing beach and pool. We will definitely be returning!

After traveling for 24 hours we finally arrived at the resort only to find that the door code did not work. We were assured at first that we must be entering the passcode wrong. Eventually we were a mastercode that did work. Rest of vacation was great.

Beautiful condo!! Great amenities! I was unhappy with the extra fees that were tacked on at the time of booking. Nothing on the description stated there would be extra fees. Considering how high the cleaning fee is I was disappointed that there was not at least one mid week cleaning & fresh towels. We have stayed at this property many times. Next time I will consider reserving one that is owned by a different property management company.

#### Decent accommodation

The Honua Kai itself is great. I was a little disappointed with this room vs others we’ve stayed at. Upon arriving was not very clean and had to get things to clean it myself. Was not stocked with anything besides toilet paper where as all other rooms we’ve rented were fully loaded with spices, sand toys, beach toys of all kinds. Even the side of the cooler left for us barely fit a few drinks. Overall was a fine stay but the cleanliness was hard no for me. I won’t use again unfortunately.

#### Beautiful time, location, and accommodations!

My family and I had the most amazing time at honua Kai. We had been in need of a break but were a bit nervous of traveling during covid. Place was very clean and exceeded our expectations! Sitting on the lanai watching the sunset and whales was a huge plus! We will be back.

We were seriously disappointed in the maintenance of the room we were in. It was somewhat run down and definitely in need of some TLC. I found myself having to re-clean everything after we got settled into our room and the lack of cleanliness was definitely upsetting giving these Covid times. The pools and property overall were nice, it was mainly the room that was the disappointment.

We had a great time in this condo. The full open glass doors was amazing and you get a pretty good view of the ocean. The condo was very modern, clean and fully stocked. My boys loved the complimentary banana bread and we loved the complimentary coffee. The managing company also did a great job providing us sand toys, pack n play and high chair when I requested it. We would definitely book here again.

#### Fun/Enjoyable Honeymoon

We loved the Honua Kai Resort, the pools and jacuzzi's are absolutely amazing and you can walk right out onto the beach. There's a walkway that you can also walk for miles on the beach, its amazing! The best part about the property is definitely the large balcony where you can sit there for hours and view the water and relax. We experienced one issue, we told the realty company twice that we were going to be there around 1:00pm, we were coming in from a redeye flight so we hoped we could check in and sleep. Multiple times the realty company confirmed that we would be arriving at 1:00pm, they even had our arrival flight info. We arrived there at 2:00pm (an hour after we said we would) and they sounded surprised that we were there so early and that the room wasn't ready. I was a bit frustrated about that and after about 15 mins they said we could check in. Not a huge issue, but I figured the realty company could be a bit more organized and diligent. The only complaint I had about the property itself was that I felt as if the water heater wasn't turned up enough. For example, if you took a bath the water would go from hot to lukewarm after filling the tub halfway. Turning it up so the water stayed hot the whole time would be great. Beyond the the property was very enjoyable. Also, when they say partial ocean view, it is partial, you're seeing it between the two buildings but at least you can see it.

#### Wonderful 40th anniversary trip!

Wonderful clean property with friendly staff and good amenities. Nice pools and beach. We had a great unit with a partial ocean and mountain view - best of both worlds. We were also away from the construction site. There were a couple of small issues in the unit that were immediately addressed and rectified by the rental agency with courtesy. The rubber access wristbands were the best. It was nice not ever having to worry about keys. Onsite Duke's Restaurant was great. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there on several occasions and were always happy with service and meals. The location is very good. With Time's market within walking distance. Lahaina was only a few minutes away by car, as well as Napili and Kapalua. Great homebase for exploring west and north coast of Maui. We honeymooned in Ka'anapali in 1978 so it was fitting we return for our 40th anniversary. We wanted to stay at a newer property and our daughter recommended Honua Kai. Glad we took her advice. It was great! This is a very popular property for young family vacationers so poolside could get a bit loud. It didn't bother us. Overall, I would highly recommend Honua Kai.

#### Beautiful one bedroom that is fully stocked with everything you need to have a fantastic week.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this room and really enjoy it. We got it at a fantastic price ($2300 wk) which allowed us to spend money on food and activities. The kitchen comes fully stocked with equipment for cooking and the unit has really good beach chairs/umbrella. Tons of comfy blankets and pillows to choose from. The in-unit washer/dryer came in handy for towels/beach wear. The only things we needed: Zip lock bags and tin foil (unit has trash bags, paper towels, dish soap, sponge, salt/pepper/oil, laundry detergent, and soap/shampoo/conditioner). There is a Safeway a few miles from the property which supplied us with everything we needed. Also, because you stay with a property rental company no one cleans the room (which is totally fine, we were careful with sand). If needed, the unit has a few items to help with cleanup. The view: The view from the balcony is surprisingly good and you can see partial ocean from the bedroom. Because it is not ocean front, the sunset is best viewed from the beach as opposed to the balcony. The overall property: Honua Kai is very beautiful and has a really good beach with some shaded spots. With two pools and a few small stores, you can really get anything you need without having to leave the resort. The restaurant, Duke's, was nothing special but definitely convenient (might I recommend the macadamia nut pancakes). We got a couple's massage package at the on property spa and paid $500 (including tip) for a 90-minute package that included a massage, hand/foot scrub, and scalp treatment. One thing to note is that the trash chute in the hallway does not smell very good so we got a pretty strong wiff when we walked to and from the room. Things to do: Besides going to the beach, the resort has an activities desk that can schedule excursions. We took a 1.5 hour horse back riding trip into the mountains at Ironwood Ranch that was fantastic. We also took a snorkling trip to Molokini on a raft with Maui Reef Adventures and got to actually swim with turtles. We took a sunset cruise with Triology and had a blast. The crew were fantastic and we ended up seeing/following pilot whales which is super rare. Favorite restaurants: Lahina Grill and the Paia Fish Market (in Lahina) are a must. Lahina Grill is about $50 a plate but the best meal we had all week. Paia Fish Market offers tons of different types of fresh fish cooked a way of your choosing for about $25 a plate, can't beat the price or the quality
