There is lots of light, great views & a very restful feeling. Single wall redwood was the preferred building style back in the day. It is beautifully painted to accentuate the style of the time. The floor plan is open to enjoy the living dining & kitchen areas while taking in the views. There is a full kitchen for cooking up island fish & fare and other tropical treats. The bedroom is cool and comfortable with a king bed. In the living room are two pune'e or day beds that could accommodate children in addition. It is called the Old Style since it was once the old vicarage house of the Wai'oli Mission. The lanai is a fabulous place to relax at the end of a hard day lounging around on the beach or discovering more of Kauai. You are about 4 blocks to Hanalei town with its cool shops and restaurants. Nice walk home after dinner. There is a washer & dryer set in a newly renovated laundry hut just steps away for your laundry needs and a hot & cold outside shower for after the beach. Folks love this house & we have many returning guests. \*Listed rate is for the Standard Occupancy of 2, but home can accommodate up to 4\. Extra guest fee beyond two is $20+tax /per night / per person. Only 2 extra guests are allowed and this fee is collected after booking. The State of Hawaii requires a rental agreement. The rental agreement has different cancellation policies than VRBO. Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also, please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property at this time. It’s set back from the water so it’s quieter than being right on the beach while still providing great views and an easy walk to the water. We were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen which was remarkably well stocked with cooking supplies so that we could eat in most nights. It’s a quick drive or short walk to Hanalei town and the weekly Farmer’s Market is right down the street so you can get away with not having to drive if you don’t want to.
