During our trip we went to onsens and shrines. At the Stagione we enjoyed the heated water for the bath and showers. There is one bathtub and two showers. There are two toilets. I thought having a blow dryer and also a small hair straightener was a kind thoughtfulness. My children enjoyed the tatami mat room for relaxing at night with the tv there. The kitchen table was a nice size for my family of 5, they had plates cups utensils for kids. The kitchen had other amenities we didn’t get a chance to use, but you can tell the hosts were very thoughtful. We had to learn how to turn the hot water feature on. The scented body wash and shampoos were lovely. This was an amazing option to stay at for two nights. We could drop our bags, do the Hakone Gora loop clockwise with a bus stop 1 min from the door, with delicious sushi and a convenience store nearby too (for breakfeast options). Having the the Open Air Museum and a train stop nearby was perfect. The place itself was tidy, warm, had all the essentials we needed, plus a generously sized bathtub (with TV) to relax after completing the loop. We enjoyed the property very much in terms of its cleanliness and the ample towels, etc to meet our needs. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of room for three of us. However, the air conditioner in the upstairs bedroom was extremely noisy all night long and the beds were small and not very comfortable. Beautiful house in great location. The giant temperature controlled bathtub is amazing! About 5 minutes walk from the station, manageable if you don't have too much luggage. We enjoyed the more traditional living room with futons for a change from hotel accommodation. The house is well located for exploring the area with the Hakone free pass. Not being able to leave luggage before or after check-in limited our time in the area (there are lockers at the station, but not big enough for our bags). There were hundreds of ants all over the bedroom and the rest of the property. There was a trail of them coming from the closed window. I attempted to contact the property right away several times, but they never responded. We had no where else to stay and had to sleep with the ants! The lock on the door was broken and it took forever to get in. Even after the stay, they never responded or tried to make things right. Our family of five from Canada (2 adults and 3 kids) had a fantastic stay at this house near Chokoku no Mori in Hakone. The home was clean, spacious, and perfectly suited for a family. The area is beautiful and peaceful — a wonderful place to relax and explore. One of the highlights was visiting the nearby volcano, where the kids especially loved trying the famous black eggs. The views of Mount Fuji from the area were stunning and truly memorable. Dining options right near the house are somewhat limited, but this was easily solved with a quick 15-minute walk or a short train ride to Gora, where there are more restaurants to choose from. There are also a couple of restaurants nearby, and a 7-11 just down the street which came in handy for snacks or supplementing a meal — the kids really enjoyed that part too! A hidden gem we discovered was the microbrewery just a few houses down — they serve excellent beer and sake, well worth a visit. We would have stayed another day if our itinerary allowed it. Great property on the hilly (mountain-y) slope with plenty of room (by Japanese standards) for our family of 4 adults, a kid and a baby. There was ample parking lots for our rental car and it was a short drive to amenities, and sights like Lake Ashi and the Hakone ropeway.
