It was about a 20 min walk from the train station with some uphill. We only had small backpacks so it was manageable. If you have luggage, it might be better to take taxi. The hotel was a little dated but the onsen made up for that. Even though it rained when we arrived, it certainly gave a different vibe. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff we dealt with were very friendly! The hallway had a terrible smell and stained carpets. The room had the smell of the mats which I didn’t really care for. The room I stayed in was Japanese tatame floor style, view of river, roomy area compared to other similar ryokan-style properties. The most memorable feature was the breakfast, the food was great with Western and Japanese cuisine available. The staff from restaurant, cleaning and reception were great as expected. The hot springs (onsen) was clean and as pictured, they interchange to men/women baths during the day which is great, you can experience all baths if staying longer. The only thing but not concerning about the property, the area is very quiet and boring, nothing to do after 8pm.
