My mom, my daughters and I absolutely loved it. It’s safe, clean and incredibly unique experience. Just a little Japanese will ingratiate them to you even further. Westerners will be pushed a little outside of their comfort zone, but in a relaxing, kind, and easy-to-adapt-to way. Don’t forget that the onsen tax must be paid on site and in cash (¥150 per night when I stayed). The food is elaborate, delicious, but decidedly Japanese. A little more information and instructions beforehand would have been appreciated, especially if you've never done it before. Dinner was very extensive and delicious, with many different courses and dishes. It would also have been nice to have been informed beforehand that dinner would only be available for an hour from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. because dinner for other guests would start afterward. You might have to get weird hours though. The rooms were Japanese style and spacious but the bathroom was small. Also the bathroom didn't smell very good. The bathroom could've been a little cleaner which is why we gave it 4/5\. The half board is absolutely worth it, the food is incredible and you will not be hungry. The staff is very very nice and were helpful with any questions we had. This was the complete experience and we definitely recommend this location for anyone that wants to do the full traditional Japanese experience! The town is small and easily walkable. We visited Choanji, a true hidden gem. Lots of places to eat and many that don't open till later in the day.
