Villa La Romantica is located among the splendid hills of Monferrato, in the heart of the little town of Grognardo. It consists of three independent units: the main building or "Villa del Vescovo", an elegant residence built around 1630, with extensions that over the course of the centuries have led to the current surface area of approximately 900 sq m, and the two structures built in 1820, not far from the main building, used at the time as stables and staff quarters and from which the two annexes have today been created, maintaining their original plain character. The recent preservative restoration interventions, carried out in the large bedrooms and halls of the 17th century residence, have restored splendour to the old floors, vaulted ceilings and frescoes which today coexist in harmony with the decoration and rooms specifically created for ascetic and meditative practices. The large cellar in the basement, with its beautiful arches and exposed-stone walls and currently used as a characteristic dining room with adjoining tasting bar, was used until 1980 as a cellar for the production of wine for the town of Grognardo. The garden, which covers an area of approximately 2,300 sq m, is protected by a continuous, 3,5 m high wall and by lush vegetation which give the property privacy and tranquillity so that guests can freely enjoy the beautiful swimming pool, the solarium and the various relaxation areas.  
  
Interior:  
The complex consists of the main body and three annexes with independent entrance. MAIN VILLA: Once past the door, the entrance hall leads, clockwise, to a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower, to the staircase up to the first floor, to the laundry room and to the living room. The living room leads to both the kitchen and the dining room, all communicating with each other. Following is a hallway from where you can go down to the large cellars or, continuing on, to a further hallway with a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. The staircase, which from the entrance goes up to the first floor, leads to the Yoga room and to a suite composed of double bedroom, sitting room and bathroom with shower. ANNEX 1: Situated next to the villa, it consists of a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. ANNEX 2: On two floors, it has two entrances, an external one from Via Visone 1 and one from the garden of the property. This last entrance, on the ground floor, leads to a living room communicating with a small dining room, to a hallway corresponding to the entrance from Via Visone and to a bathroom with shower. On the first floor, two double bedrooms share a bathroom with shower. ANNEX 3: Also on two floors and with two entrances, an external one from Via Visone 3 and one from the garden of the property. This last entrance, on the ground floor, leads to the living room and to a bathroom with shower. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a guest bathroom. Air conditioning only in the bedrooms.  
  
Park:  
Once past the entrance gate, a 70 metre-long, tree-lined drive that crosses the large, totally-fenced and mainly-flat, 2,300 sq m garden leads to the entrance of the villa, near which is a large parking area. On the right, white sails create a haven of shade before the beautiful 90 sq m rectangular swimming pool and the large furnished solarium and living areas. Near the villa, a lovely pergola stands out in the large area set up with tables and chairs for outdoor meals. On the opposite side are the entrances to the two annexes and the veranda with table and chairs next to the outdoor kitchen. Then, a lovely little knoll where a harmonious arrangement of plants, flowers, low walls, paths and flower beds confer on this corner of the garden a shape similar to a large natural raised stage. Picturesque old barrels, demijohns and cellar tools scattered around the garden recall the centuries-old wine-growing vocation of the area, creating, together with the beautiful lanterns and the various relaxation corners set between the paths and flower beds, an atmosphere of times past that tempts the Guest to indulge in long relaxing and meditative breaks. At the end of the drive is the beautiful main façade of the 17th century villa with a providential canopy to shelter the peaceful refuge with brazier, table and chairs where guests can dine outdoors while enjoying the alluring view over the entire large garden.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.  
  
Swimming Pool:  
The swimming pool of Villa La Romantica is located on the west side of the property and is protected by a tall hedge between a haven of shade created by beautiful white sails and a living area with solarium, furnished with outdoor sofas, sunbeds, chairs and tables. Surrounded by beautiful stone paving, the rectangular pool measures 90 sq m (15 x 6 m) with a depth of 130 cm. Lined in light-blue PVC, with chlorine purification, the pool can be illuminated to create an alluring nocturnal atmosphere. The pool is available from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.  
  
Pets: Si. € 50,00 per week each animal. Acceptance of animals to the facility must be previously authorised by the owner upon communication of the number of animals, size and breed.

#### Lots of space, great pool, a bit outdated though

Let me start off by saying that the photographer of the photos you see did an incredible job. The photos are true, but in reality everything is a bit less shiny.The furniture and appliances are outdated. The bed my wife and I slept in felt very fragile and was really squeaky. The pillows were not great.The showers were okay, but one of the shower heads just broke off.The aircon units were mobile. They worked a bit, luckily they weren't needed a lot during our stay.Everything is there, but could be better.There are two kitchens, so there is enough space. But ideally you only want to use the upper kitchen and that alone just doesn't cut it. The fridge is small and was very icy. We felt like we didn't have enough smaller and normal sized pans.The bar area and second kitchen on the lower floor we didn't really use except for storing the stuff that we couldn't store on the ground level floor.There is wifi, but its not great and only available in one room and the kitchen. All of our kids burned through their cell phone data plans, so expect extra costs there.The outdoor area is huge, but I would have loved it if it wasn't covered so much with small stones that hurt your feet.The owner of the house unexpectedly walked through the house a few times.Besides this, we had a great time here.Grognardo is small, no tourist attractions closeby. We had to drive at least 90 minutes to do things. Milan, Turin, beach, Cinque Terre.Restaurants and groceries in Acqui Terme.
