The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains right near the Cacapon River. We love the river! We often go swimming, tubing and fishing; it's perfect on a hot summer day. About a 15 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ! Getting Around: There's plenty of parking on site. We're about a 20 min drive from Berkeley Springs. Bedroom downstairs was cramped, noisy. We had enough bed linens, but were only 4 towels for 7 of us. Reached out to owner who responded that someone would bring more towels. NONE were ever brought. There was a washer and dryer, but that shouldn't have been needed for basics. Kitchen was nice, plenty of cookware, short on plates and bowls, luckily we brought some paper plates. This was also passed on to the owner with a response, but nothing brought to cabin. No toaster. The table was big, but we had to bring in some chairs from the porch when we were all together. Hot tub was great except or the towel shortage. Listing stated paddle boards and kayaks, but no paddle boards were there.There was a telescope in the photos, however it did not work. There was a ping pong table in garage,but the paddles were all broken and NO ping pong balls, area was dirty, table had mold on it. Owner was notified of these things in the initial contact with other issues, no action was taken. With young adults with us this was a disappointment. There were many DVD's but one of the DVD players didn't work. So we had to move them around up where there was more room. There was a fan on the porch that did not work. The fire pit was great, bring your own wood. They were pet friendly but the fee was 29 per night per dog for a cleaning fee. However, there was dog hair left from previous guests. The community is unique in that it is gated, but 1200 acres. We only used the upstairs bedrooms, but the beds were comfortable. Loved the screened in porch!! The only addition that is needed is a fly swatter. Some very large, but slow moving flies appeared on our last night and we had to get creative with how we disposed of them. While we were on the road for 3 hours, the owner of the house suddenly informed us in a text message that he could not accept us. The reason was that there was a strong wind, there was no electricity and the cleaning lady could not come to clean. At first he offered to return the money for renting the house, and then refused and offered to reschedule for other dates. He did not answer phone calls. We were at a loss! It was April 20, the day of our arrival! The service was at a terrible level. They did not offer us anything in return on the same day. The money has not been refunded to this day. We had a great stay here at this Cabin. The road to get here is long and winding and the area was very quiet. It was at least 30 mins to get to the grocery store, hiking, Berkley Springs, or almost anywhere else of interest, but that was just fine to us. The screened in porch was huge and amazing! Great for bird watching and being "outside" bug free or while it's raining. The fire pit was nice and we did enjoy the hottub. The picnic area/kayak launch was beautiful, but the kayaks were MIA. I informed Tony and he had his maintenance guy pick up new ones the following late afternoon. I was able to use one of the Kayaks on my last full day which was fun, but wish we had them from the first full day. The cabin has the basic needs to cook, but might be rough if you are making multiple dishes at once. The room we stayed in (queen with twin) had a comfortable bed and pillows. There were some mice living in the cabin, but that wasn't surprising. Overall really good stay. I would stay again with minor fixes. Make sure you bring enough firewood, we went through a big bundle a day. ##### Brandi G. The screened in porch was particularly enjoyable, and the kids enjoyed going down to the little creek in the backyard. The river access was a nice perk. The hot tub and new grill were in great condition. Cons: There was a dead mouse in the basement. It was pretty obvious it had been there for awhile and that the cleaning staff tried to mask it with Glade plug-ins. Once we found it and cleared it out the smell in the basement quickly cleared as well. There were no kayaks or canoes at the river that were associated with this cabin. The shed was a complete mess, and while it contained several rafts and floats the pump was missing critical components. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom sounded like it was about to fall on us. Also, received texts from the supposed owner during my stay. When I complained about the kayaks, he told me to ask an attendant for help but I’m pretty sure there are no attendants that work at the riverside. That and numerous spelling errors makes me wonder if this text service is contracted out. All in all, it was a fun stay but not all as advertised. ##### James K. It was easy to check in, directions were thorough, and location was just what we were hoping for - off the beaten path and in the middle of the forest. The cabin itself is cute, but very basic and in need of some repairs and updates. The dishwasher does not work, downstairs electrical was spotty, and lacking in the finer touches that make a place feel more personal. However, it really did have the fundamentals of what we wanted in a quick getaway - great fire pit, hot tub was clean and working, and plenty of games for the whole family. We’re appreciative of the pet friendliness, too! Would definitely return. ##### Allie B. Our daughters white socks were black within 10 minutes. The bathroom clearly wasn’t cleaned from the last visitors. They gave us the wrong directions twice. Which made our drive an hour longer. The house needs some attention. The shower handle was broken, we couldn't get the toaster to work, we found fish hooks on the floor and we were not able to get a key card or key to the house despite numerous calls and texts throughout the week. The ground level accommodations are dark and musty. The garbage had not been collected the week before and my parents spent some of their stay picking it up around the yard. It is in the middle of no where with the closest store being around 25 minute drive. Pros: very quiet, hot tub was awesome, screened outdoor patio, good location to get away. Cons: tv upstairs did not work, outdoor grill needs to be replaced, dvd player downstairs did not work, and no firewood. There was a tv downstairs that got Netflix etc with your account but no tv channels which is good if you want to get away from all the news etc. Needs upkeep (cons above) but a good place if you just want to get away. ##### Linda P.
