Shop the first floor of this 1914 property filled with extraordinary antiques, Christmas and gifts before retreating to your private spaces. Revive your spirits in a steaming tub of healing salts and soak before you slip into luxurious linens on the immense antique beds of the second and third floors. The veranda suite features a massive bedroom with a plantation made full-tester bed and in the adjoining room with cannon ball bed, both from the 1840's. The full tester bed is of local provenance. The New Orleans room is spacious retreat with a magnificent antique mahogany queen-sized bed. The bed, a masterpiece of American furniture-making, was created in the 1850s for the New Orleans market and is signed by its maker, Charles Lee. The dream-weaver mattress was specially made to fit the over-queen sized proportions. Adjacent access to the master bath, complete with the original, massive soaking tub and illuminated by a crystal chandelier make the New Orleans room a favorite with guests. The third floor loft apartment is a beautiful open space with a studio kitchen and full bath. The loft features a dining area, office and reading space, and sleeps up to four. It is a comfortable space with amazing views of downtown. The entire house is equipped with wireless internet. At the center of the second floor. An ingenious redesign of the original linen closet now conceals a breakfast and wine bar, complete with coffee maker, microwave, fridge and flat screen tv. When you arrive at Laurel Ridge Inn, you do NOT feel like a visitor, but like a long lost friend, or relative, greeted warmly (but not effusively). Perhaps a home to which you are accustomed, or perhaps to home to which you aspire: Antique beds and exquisite accommodations. Oct 23, 2014 #### Immaculate Quarters with Old World Delight I have been a loyal customer/fan of Laurel Ridge for the last several years now as my business frequently brings me to Gonzales. My overall impression: Laurel Ridge, Barbara (its owner) and her staff have never failed to offer anything but a stellar, top notch experience. Small-town Texas hospitality (the best kind) mixes with old world charm in a way that makes you want to kick off you shoes, relax on the veranda and soak it all in. Laurel Ridge is its own little world away from the world. A place\` where you can leave the hustle and bustle of modern life behind and sink back into a calm, stress free environment, where even time seems to run a little slower. Sumptuously decorated with high quality, period appropriate antiques and beds piled high with luxurious linens, you'll feel that you've traveled back to a world where quality and good taste mattered. High end soaps and bath essentials, along with thick, plush towels, adorn the tastefully updated bathrooms, which still retain their period charm while having all the modern conveniences. Whether you've come to Gonzales for the history, the horse shows, the antiques or just to get away the big city, you couldn't find a more charming place to stay. And make sure and spend some time chatting with your host, Barbara. She's a true world citizen (a Gonzales hometown girl by birth, she spent many of her adult years living in Paris and London before returning home to open Laurel Ridge) and never ceases to charm and delight. She and her staff are as much the reason I keep returning to Laurel Ridge as is the majestic, old, historic house itself.
