Our stay in the Rocky Mountains
We came to Canada this year to experience the beautiful National parks. We were not disappointed! With that being said we were shocked at the price of things (it is so expensive!) The cabin was rustic and a work in progress which we new ahead of time and were completely ok with. The place was beautiful, the view was AMAZING! The host was very responsive and a wonderful host! We are used to staying in cabins a couple of times per year and really was impressed however, the cabin wasn't as clean as we would have liked it, and the water has a very strong sulfur odor but the kitchen has a filter for drinking water and we used the washer which did not leave an odor in our clothes. We would def stay here again! Thank you for hosting us :)

Calm and majestic
Great place for a family reunion, lots of deck space with a beautiful view. Comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The well water is indeed a bit strong, but the filtered water was fine for drinking and cooking.

Secluded getaway
Loved our stay here. Secluded, couldn't see the neighbors, wooded, and gorgeous view from the back porch. Was nice to relax in the hottub after hiking. The house was beautiful and comfortable. Our only complaint was it had hard water, which the manager warned us about. We just picked up bottled water. Would definitely stay here again. Property owner was very nice, helpful and courteous. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

Very nice place for a few peaceful days
Not too far from Golden is this very nice house overlooking the Columbia valley. The place had everything we needed including a kitchen that was really equiped with everything you need (and more).

Great View!
We use VRBO extensively for our travels and this property was somewhat disappointing. The views are great but with leftover coffee in the coffee maker, beer bottles outside the hot tub, and the fridge requiring cleaning on arrival, this wasn’t quite what we had hoped. Maybe this house isn’t rented much in the winter as it felt like it needed a good spring clean. We liked the spot in the woods although there is still a lot of the home under construction. It would be nice to have soap for the showers—especially to counter the strong sulphur smell from the well water. We had a great time in Golden and given the other reviews, perhaps it was simply an issue with time of year and/or the cleaning crew not being quite as attentive this time. Kitchen is well equipped and great deck to grill.

Hello Nick, I am sorry for the lack of attention to cleaning I can assure you this is not a normal occurrence and I will discuss with my cleaning staff. I typically pay great attention to detail and take great pride in my home. Again sorry for your inconvenience and thank you for the honest review. I have taken steps to remediate the well water and as it says in my listing depending on the time of year the sulpher smell could be more potent because it does come from a well. However it has been treated and is fine to use. Unfortunately I'm a little hand cuffed with providing soap as previous guests have complained about leaving shampoo and soap out for guests. I have taken your comments and will work to provide a better service for the next guest. Thank you. Meachel

This was an amazing and remote property with the most stunning views! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay! The short drive to town provides beautiful scenery and is located near trailheads in either direction. Would recommend for sure!

Lovely place for a group getaway despite smoke and heat
This is as others have said a lovely new house, with everything you could need, especially suitable for a group of people. It is very well-equipped, particularly the kitchen. Beds were really comfortable, according to everyone who came. Hot tub worked well and is accessible for those who has slight mobility issues (although stairs are required to get to it). Views are or would have been extraordinary, but like most of BC this year, the sky and air were smoky with wildfires and high temperatures that made the windowed house very uncomfortable late in the day, particularly as one of the ceiling fans had apparently been vandalized by a previously heat-crazed visitor. Meach was very good about responding to our pathetic wails of heat prostration, and promptly reimbursed us for a room fan which I would suggest for the loft room as well. Our mid-30s youngsters there braved the heat anyway. For those of us more elderly by inclination and body, it would have been great to have a bit more regular-height seating inside, particularly as the outside deck table and chairs had not been well-cleaned of marauding rodents (thus my reduced rating for cleanliness; otherwise the place was very well-cleaned). We found the VRBO and owner's warnings about data overages confusing, and thus didn't watch TV. This was unfortunate, as there is a great TV provided. However, aside from very brief interruptions when we were checking email for work or browsing for hardware and grocery stores (and wildfire warnings), the wifi was much better than many I have experienced in Yoho, Golden, Kicking Horse and Blaeberry. If it had not been for both smoke and heat (Kicking Horse was a bust, for instance), this would have been a better getaway for us, but that is not the fault of the owner. A note on the water; potable (ok tasting water) is provided and water straight from taps is drinkable but tastes strong. For those who do not like their water to taste of anything, we would recommend getting the bottled water in town. The place is as advertised, better in person, and I would recommend it especially for a group, a family with grown kids, even a couple. It would be amazing in the winter. We would definitely go back.

Great quiet getaway
We loved the location of this property. A short drive into town if you needed anything but very quiet and private. We knew there some neighbours but we could never see or hear them. The views from the deck are spectacular and we have most of our meals outside. Inside the cabin was clean and spacious. The master bath upstairs has a beautiful bathtub so I'd recommend bringing some bubble bath. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed for cooking meals.

Nice quiet getaway.
Booking was fast and easy. We had concerns about the cleaning regime (due to the coronavirus pandemic) and Meachel quickly put our concerns to rest. The home was spotless upon arrival. The property is gorgeous and spacious. The view of the mountains from the deck or hot tub were spectacular. My spouse and I had a very nice relaxing stay. Would recommend.

Great place, bad experience
Had a great stay at the property. Unfortunately, afterwards my security deposit was wrongly withheld with a list of “issues” that we had supposedly done. It was not accurate and after about a week of discussion my security deposit was returned in full. It was an unfortunate hassle after a great vacation. In terms of the property, it’s a great location if you are looking to do some snowboarding at Kicking Horse. Clean, lots of sun.

I am genuinely sorry to hear that following your visit where damages occurred to my home you found it unsatisfactory that I withheld nothing for the damages after providing pictures and having to hire my cleaners for a second day. I wish you well in your future trips

Modern cozy adventure base
We visited this wonderful cabin/house in the winter. The clean modern home was very cozy with the wonderful views of the mountain and the warm fireplace. If you are planning on doing some cooking the kitchen is fairly well appointed and well layed out. We would definitely stay here again.

The property and home was very clean and charming and had great amenities as well. It was nestled neatly in the woods, felt very private, and overlooked the mountains - the view was fantastic! The living spaces and bedrooms were very comfortable and we loved our stay!

Property was spectacular with incredible mountain views.

The perfect mountain getaway. Close enough to Kicking Horse to be there to catch 8:30 a.m. powder!
- plenty of room, comfy beds, 2 washrooms! - floor to ceiling fireplace makes a warm and cozy ambiance, plenty of firewood - breathtaking mountain and valley view - hot tub overlooking the view for apres ski - washer and dryer after a day of skiing came in handy! - kitchen is gorgeous , well appointed with everything you could need - a pretty Christmas tree was set up for our enjoyment - tobogganed in the New Year - we appreciated the sand provided for the driveway and the daily snow plowing - this home is beautiful, a winter wonderland of fun & coziness and the epitome of a great Canadian mountain getaway - we would love to visit again!

Stylish home with wonderful view.
This was our first time as a family and we could have chosen a better base from which to explore the area. The home was decorated and equipped to a very high standard and the five of us had plenty of room. The view across the valley from the balcony was fabulous. One tip, while not impossible with a 2 wheel drive car it is best to have a four wheel drive vehicle to get up to the property. Once there the home and view are worth it. When we were there the ground floor was still under construction and not finished but this had been made very clear by the owner and in no way detracted from the stay. As the main floor were finished with all the modern conveniences to a very high standard. It was cool to sit in the living room or on the balcony and be visited by humming birds out of the surrounding forrest. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. I would have not hesitation in staying here again in the future.

Wonderful place for a quiet family vacation.
The property was exactly as presented in the pictures. We spent four nights in this location and found the accommodations to be everything we needed. The view from the deck was spectacular. We sat outside almost every evening after dinner with a glass of wine. We cooked all of our meals in a well-equipped kitchen where the owner left spices for us to use in our cooking (thank you). We used the hot tub on our last night after a 10 mile hike. The location of the home was perfect for us because we wanted to be away from the crowds of Banff and enjoy family time. We visited three other parks during our stay and each park was about an hour and a half from the house. The only only issue we had was WiFi. It is almost nonexistent; however, we did not come to Canada to stay on our electronic devices. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful place to make family memories.

Nice secluded spot
We enjoyed this place for a 3 day weekend mountain biking trip to Golden and had a wonderful time. Would recommend to others for a weekend getaway. The unfinished basement is actually perfect for games when the weather is poor and the mosquitoes are bad.

Great Place with an Excellent View
Sitting high on the side a west-facing mountain, this brand new construction is very nicely done. Secluded but still close enough to Golden, the peaceful "Black Bear Lodge" offers three bedrooms for privacy (two on the main level flanking a full bath; one upstairs with its own bathroom) and a great room when all want to be together. The interior decor throughout is very tasteful, the kitchen was well equipped, and the outdoor hot tub down below provided a good soak after a day of hiking in the many nearby Canadian national parks. We even had a couple of local deer keep a watchful eye on us as we came and went! All in all a really nice place... and the owner was friendly, professional, and unbelievably attentive and responsive to any question we had. She was super easy to work with. In retrospect I wish we would have spent a bit more time there.

The Perfect Escape.
We were looking for a quiet retreat with a good size kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace, a hot tub, and no neighbours. This place delivered. This was our first VRBO so naturally we were a little apprehensive, but loved what we saw online and decided to roll the dice. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It wasn't until about 3 days into our stay that we saw the 40+ 5 star reviews for this home on airbnb... The home is well laid out, with a spacious kitchen for 2 to work in, comfortable seating in the living room and a floor to ceiling fireplace that is framed by an amazing view of the trees and mountains. The kitchen had all of the basic tools and gadgets that allow for proper meal prep and the propane BBQ is easily accessible. Linens were of good quality, and there was no shortage. The host was attentive to our needs and very quick to respond with any questions we had. Things of note: The loft bed is a mattress on the floor, no bed frame. This was perfectly suitable for us and didn't impact our stay. We did run out of propane on the last day, the spare tank was empty upon arrival, but we were able to finish off the last meal in the oven. The basement (which is the access to the hot tub and wood pile) is unfinished but very clean no real detriment. We would absolutely stay again. Thank you, Meachel!
