Absolute DISASTER!!!!!
After a 9 hour drive & arriving well after dark we found the house to be either abandoned or possible squatters living in the house. We had zero communication from the host, Randall. Could not get in touch with him at all. That should have been a huge red flag that something was amiss.
Once we entered the home we found there was no power & no running water. Dirty dishes everywhere, toilet was full of feces & even a little cat on the screened in back porch. The rest of the house was a disaster as well.
We left the house immediately and called VRBO, concerned for our safety. Upon speaking with the agent & reporting our findings, she asked us to go back into the house to take pictures. We expressed our concern for our safety & not feeling comfortable going back into the house, but she was pretty insistent. Bear in mind, it's cold, dark & & there is no electricity, in a strange home that we've never been in before. We sent the pictures and then she decided to refund our money.
I cannot tell you how put out and majorly inconvenienced we were. Here we are in a strange city & two days before Thanksgiving looking for another VRBO well after dark. I booked this house months in advance, paid for it, never thinking we would end up with nowhere to go. I spent three hours on the computer looking for another VRBO with no luck. Everything was booked through Thanksgiving We ended up at a hotel for our 6 day stay. At a considerably higher out of pocket expense. Not cool VRBO! Never again!
