Welcome to Wave Watcher!We're excited that you've selected this great condo at the Victorian where you can watch the waves from the balcony of this top floor condo!Welcoming up to 5 guests on the queen bed, twin day bed in the hallway alcove,and queen sleeper sofa.The kitchenette has been updated in 2021 with a large refrigerator,flat top cooktop,new countertops-and all the things needed to prepare your meals are at your fingertips. The complex has 2 pools, 2 hot tubs a fitness room... read on... ....grilling and picnic areas. Directly across the street from Babe's Beach - the complex has a protected crossing (traffic signal) at the corner. We provide starter supplies of paper products, dish cleaning needs, shampoo, soap, and coffee because when you arrive we want you to have time to catch your breath - WATCH THE WAVES - before making your grocery list. And when you do - you are close enough to walk to the big box store that starts with a W - as well as other nearby grocery options (Kroger and Randalls). Visiting Galveston for one of the many competitive events hosted here? Cheer, dance, sports tournaments or conferences? Weddings, family reunions, class reunions, festivals, homes tours, or any other groups? Why squeeze into a tiny hotel room when your entire group could stay in their own condos and enjoy "together time" at the pools, hot tubs, etc. instead! Being in walking distance to a big box store makes shopping a breeze whether for food and beverage selections, beach necessities you may have forgotten, or souvenirs to remind you of your trip to the Texas gulf coast. The Victorian complex is located across from Babe’s Beach on Galveston’s Seawall – protected by traffic signals at both corners so you can safely walk across to the beach. There’s a huge big box store that starts with a W next door for all your shopping needs, and eateries in walking distance for sandwiches and BBQ. You will have exclusive use of the entire condo - and share the pools, hot tubs, fitness center, tennis court and grounds including BBQ pergolas, fish cleaning station and a multitude of outdoor spaces with other guests and residents of the Victorian condominium complex. The complex has 2 pools – at least one of which is heated in the seasons when God does not do this for us. There are two hot tubs, a fitness center and picnic/BBQ areas. There are also 2 hot tubs, a tennis court, and BBQ grills and picnic areas sprinkled around the complex. What's included: While we provide our guests with self check-in information and instructions, you can call us with any questions you may have at any time. You will have exclusive use of the entire condo - and share the pools, hot tubs, fitness center, tennis court and grounds including BBQ pergolas, fish cleaning station and a multitude of outdoor spaces with other guests and residents of the Victorian condominium complex. You certainly COULD stay here without a car - you can walk to shopping, eateries and the beach, there is public transportation nearby, and there are several local and nationally "branded" taxi services as well as ride share (Uber, Lyft) programs in place as well as meal deliveries (UberEats, ASAP (formerly WAITR) and DoorDash available as well. We provide self check in instructions 24-72 hours prior to arrival - and when you are on vacation - YOU ARE ON VACATION. Should you need to reach us, however, we are but a phone call or email away and ready to assist you. We are happy to answer any questions at any time, but to ensure we give you the correct code we cannot provide access instructions earlier than this. Bed linens for all beds, one bath, hand and wash cloth for each guest that the unit welcomes. We do not provide beach/pool towels as when we did – they continuously went home with our guests. If you wish to “rent” beach towels from us – it is $25 for condos that accommodate up to 6 guests and $35 for condos that accommodate up to 8 guests. Which is only the additional cost of the laundering of them – labor time, laundry products, etc. We will need to have a credit card on file for this as if there are beach towels missing upon your departure, the charge is $25 per towel. We ask that our bath towels not be removed from the condo and taken to the beach or pool. They can get damaged or lost. Starter supplies: 2 rolls of 2-ply, quilted toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, a dishwasher tablet, small dishwashing liquid, sponge, 2 small soaps, 2 small shampoos, trash bag, and coffee including sweeteners, stir sticks, powdered creamer to make that first pot. These are intended to get you started while you make your list and decide where to shop (there is a WalMart, Kroger, Randall's, Arlan's and Target on the island, as well as many mom & pop grocery stores. The Victorian condominium complex is located on Seawall Boulevard with protected (traffic signal) crossing at the corner for ease of getting to the beach. You will be close to shopping and eateries - so whether you plan to experience Galveston's culinary adventures or save money by cooking in (some or all of your meals) it's convenient from this central Seawall Boulevard Location. The Victorian condominium complex – like almost every condominium complex and hotel in Galveston, charges a parking/resort/amenity fees. This is not a charge from My Galveston Getaway and is paid directly to the complex upon your arrival. They will issue a parking permit and may issue wristbands that identify guests who are authorized at the complex. They will also provide guests with the codes for the gates to enter the property - both drive-through and walk through, pools, hot tubs, fitness center and the WiFi code which is changed monthly. It is a complex-wide WiFi system. The charge is $35 + tax and includes up to 2 parking permits. This is for stays that are up to 7 consecutive nights in duration. For stays of 8-31 days it is $70 + tax, and for extended stays it is $70 + tax per month. We are unable to collect this in advance and pay it to the Victorian on your behalf. We don’t get to make the rules, we just play by them! There are several pay-per-use laundry facilities at the Victorian, these accept credit and debit cards as methods of payment. Many of our owners have switched out to “Smart” TV’s – so bring your login information with you to sign in to your own subscription services, and don’t forget to log-out before leaving. The Victorian complex does not allow renters to have a pet – so if you travel with Fido or Fifi – please check out the other My Galveston Getaway managed properties that ARE dog friendly. While true service animals are an exception – you very well may be asked by the complex to provide the verification. For short term rental/vacation purposes – emotional support animals are not considered true support animals and we are unable to make exceptions to a rule that is in place and enforced by a complex in which we manage condos. Kindly be respectful. We strive for 5 star reviews at all times - and the first part of that is notifying everyone of every cost they may incur so that there are no surprises. If during your stay with us you find any reason that you are not able to rate our service and the property a 5 star review based upon the description of the property, that the pictures accurately depict the property, or our courteous service - please let us know and give us the opportunity to turn that frown upside down and EARN your 5 star review. All properties managed by My Galveston Getaway are 100% non-smoking/non-vaping properties. After making your reservation you will receive a link to complete our renters agreement. The only information we request differently than the booking platforms (VRBO/AirBnB) is your personal email address, the names and ages of each person who will be in the property during your stay, and your driver’s license information as well as an emergency contact should we need to reach someone on your behalf. Thank you for completing this in a timely manner so that we may send you the check-in instructions for the property you have reserved. Galveston is a barrier island located in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is susceptible to rainstorms, thunderstorms and even a hurricane now and then. Sometimes these result in temporary power and WiFi outages. We strongly encourage our renters to consider purchasing trip interruption/cancellation protection either through the platform that you book through or some other source. My Galveston Getaway issues refunds if a governmental official issues a mandatory evacuation of the island. Unfortunately we are unable to control sunshine, temperatures and mosquitos and do not refund other than pursuant to our policy based on evacuation orders. Thank you for understanding. Again – the parking/resort/amenities/facilities fee is one charged by the condominium complex, not by the owner of the condo or My Galveston Getaway and we appreciate your understanding. For all reservations made directly through our website and through VRBO, there is a $300 security deposit “hold” required. You certainly can purchase trip cancellation/interruption coverage through those platforms as well if you so desire, this is a damage “deposit” hold. This is released once our housekeepers advise that the property has been left in the condition received with no damages occurring during your stay. This is not a charge, but a hold on the credit card on file with which the reservation is made. Should there be damages and they exceed $300 to repair or replace, you will be notified and asked to make arrangements to compensate for those items. It is much smaller that it looks if you’re planning on staying here with more than 2 people. One star for cleanliness - it smelled so so bad like mildew the first night. Got mildly better as the days went on and we aired it out. Our feet were black by the end of the first night due to the dirty carpet and floors, although I will say I didn’t see a speck of sand when we arrived. The sheets and even the curtains smelled terrible - almost like they had never been washed since the last guest. Smelled the same as the mildew smell of the whole place. Blood stain in the bottom right corner of the sheets in the bedroom. All of the beds were terribly uncomfortable. I will say I didn’t complain to management about any of it… it just wasn’t worth it to me for just a few days stay to have management in and out while we were there. I think it was overpriced due to condition, but if it had been clean with better beds, it is 100% worth the price. You can beat the location - I’d say it has the best location on the island. The pools are fantastic. And even better it is all fenced. Oh - and bring a buggy for your beach stuff. It is a pain going up and down with all of it even when taking the slow elevators. ##### Veronica T. Séjour de 2 nuits en juin 2024 ### 8/10 – Bien #### Elizabeth S. 3 juill. 2024 Points forts : Propreté #### Room for Improvement but Overall a Good Stay Booking was easy. The condo was a little hard to find, especially in the dark. There is more signage that you can see in the daylight. Overall, the condo is as described, except there aren't bunk beds in the hall. It's a single twin. A few misses to list: there were crumbs in the utensil holder, food left on a plate, dirty glasses, etc. Also, no pepper (there was a salt shaker). There was no bath mat, so we just used a towel, but it was a bit slippery. The overhead light in the bedroom had a short pull chain that I couldn't reach - had to get my daughter to turn the light on and off for me each time. It also gets hot in the main area of the condo. Some sort of fan would be appreciated. You get told in the welcome/check-in instructions to not put the thermostat below 72 or it will freeze up and that any repairs needed due to moving the thermostat lower than 72 will result in charges to your card. Get the a/c fixed! Also, several reminders that the My Galveston Getaway doesn't manage the condo property, thus they can't be blamed/held responsible for issues not related to the condo itself. Well, during our stay the wifi was out due to storm damage (not a huge deal for us). Also, on our first night, fecal matter was found in the pool which as you can imagine ruined our first evening. We were told by a property employee that the pool would be closed for 24 hours by state law, but there were people swimming the next morning. ##### Elizabeth S. I like the location and the pool access. The condo itself was very outdated, the bed was awful for me, I had to sleep on the couch and not with my husband. The blow dryer did not work, just like the toilet would not flush all the way.....gross. I pulled a muscle trying to open and close it. There needs to be maintenance done. The balcony was nice but faces the sun so got HOT quick. Close to beach which was nice. Cant comment on the wifi/tv service. a storm blew in and knocked both out. so we spent the night in the dark. But over all was nice for a 1 night stay. I wouldnt want to be there any longer though due to size. ##### Karen J. We thought we just needed to air it out so opened up the back door. But we realized it was the twin bed's blankets that smelled of urine. We also had to call because the toilet wouldn't flush. maintenance came and change out the bedding and worked on the toilet for an hour. It never flushed completely during our stay. We also covered the living room furniture with spare sheets because they smelled bad. Late that night we went to lock up for bed and the back door wouldn't lock. We had to wedge the broom stick to feel safe enough to sleep. The next day we got on the elevator, which already looked dilapidated but was convenient with my mom and daughter to get to top floor, the elevator jerked and made a loud noise and then stopped. We got stuck in it. I used the phone to call out and the lady that answered told me she would find maintenance for help. I told her to please hurry because it was hot and we were getting nervous. She told me to calm down because there was plenty of air. The elevator is outdoors with no air flow and baking in the sun. It was like sitting in your car in Texas heat with windows rolled up and no AC. I called 911 quickly after because my daughter was hysterical and my mom was not well. EMS came with the fire department because of the heat.As soon as we were rescued and ok we packed and left. My husband called to talk to the hosts and told we'd be refunded. We were not. It was a terrible stay! ##### Stephanie B.
