Escape on the river

The Get-Away is nestled in a quiet cabin community right on the river with easy access to the two lane road. Enjoy pristine river views from the back deck, private river access and campfire right on the river bank.
The cabin is two bedroom one bath and sleeps 5 in two full beds and one twin. Perfect for couples or small family.
Kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and utensils you would have in the comfort of your home. Towels and linens provided.

We are pet friendly (dogs only, fee required).

-Historic Helvetia, home of the Hutte Restaurant, 5 mile drive
-Pickens, host of the Maple Syrup Festival, 10 mile drive
-West Virginia Wildlife Center, 12 mile drive

I was amazed by the beauty of the area and the cabin! The inside of the cabin was very clean and welcoming! The over all area is secluded enough away that you definitely need transportation to and from anywhere. Overall it was a great stay with my kids. We brought the ATVs for them to ride and they enjoyed the entire weekend without cellphones!!!

Had a great vacation visiting with old friends. The place is nice but could use a new back door. The gap at the top let in several bugs. There are other places nearby, but they’re far enough away for a degree of privacy. No reason we wouldn't return.

This was such a great stay! It was just me and my teenage daughter, who is used to busy city life. So to be basically in the middle of nowhere amd be surrounded by just nature was amazing. We didn't stay. Directions sent us up a mountain for an hour and a half. The property wasn't even up there. I Did finally find the property. Property was in such disarray. Pictures did not match the property. The pictures show a some what nice house. Maybe at one time when the pictures were first taken. I have to show my misses where we are going first before I book a trip. When we pulled up to the house she looked at me and said I'm not staying here. This isn't what I saw in the pictures. This place is nasty. As much as I wanted to stay myself because I needed a couple days off the grid. I had to agree with her. We didn't even go in. We figured if the outside is this bad why bother. Now I drove over 6 hours to get there. It has to be pretty bad for me to turn around and leave. Then drive almost 3 hours more to find a hotel let alone one that will except dogs. I am requesting a full refund.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The cabin was exactly as advertised, spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. Having coffee on the deck each morning with the incredible view and sound of the creek was heaven. We were so happy that we were able to bring our dogs. They enjoyed their time as much as we did. Cheryl is an excellent host, attentive and very understanding. We are planning an Autumn visit to enjoy the leaves. Highly recommend this property.

Fabulous retreat
I just wanted to get away from everything with my kids near a River we could play in. I wanted to be able to cook and relax. We felt so at home here. There was nobody in the other cabins on the street. It was clean, and the fire pit was great! My boys could go up and down the hill easily. For me it was more challenging, but they knew to e careful and I felt safe letting them enjoy the River while I rested at the fire pit or cooked inside. Thank you so much. The washer dryer worked great and everything was thought of. The beds were comfortable. I would stay again.

This cozy little house is in a great location - far enough away that it feels private but close enough that you can still get things you need! The property was beautiful and the sound of the river was comforting. The porches were perfect for just sitting and enjoying nature.

A true getaway!
This cabin is exactly as advertised. A secluded, remote, quiet, and peaceful cabin in the mountains. Cheryl is amazing, very quick to respond to inquiries, but hands off when you need your peace. My son, our husky Falkor, and I all enjoyed the vacation and brought in 2024 in a beautiful snowy bliss! We will be back in the summer to play in the river! Highly recommend!

Very enjoyable stay! I had wanted to fish, but it was just too cold and rainy (My fault....it is November!!) lol The cabin was clean and stocked with many necessities, even found salt and pepper which I had forgot!! Cheryl even provided a list of items included and by fault things not included. This list was very helpful! I would very much like to book again for spring or early summer. The ineffable joy that simply pulling up to the cabin brings its overwhelming. Then immediately you're drawn in to the sound and picturesque view of the river, i find myself there for more hours than anywhere else. We've been down here 3xs now and I'm just now starting to explore the mountain that this cabin sits in the middle of. For no other reason than it's too beautiful to want to leave for anything! If you're looking for a place to truly recharge your soul, this is it! And to top it off, it's stocked and very clean! Cheryl (the host) is amazing and responds back to you like your her top priority! I cannot say enough great things about the getaway. We have already begun planning our 4th trip! *i personally recommend coming down in the second or third week of October. The drive in is something special!
