We needed a place to stay for a weekend while attending a birding event at Hartwick Pines State Park. Emily's home is very warm and welcoming - beautiful location right on the river. Great communication / quick to respond to questions. My only complaint - which is not Emily's fault at all - is the mosquitoes were very bad. Make sure you bring heavy duty repellent. Older quaint farmhouse, loved the piano, and the decor representing the owner who lived there before. Outside by the river was nice, would have loved to see a little bit of tidiness outdoors. River was amazing and we especially liked reading the Legends of the Au Sable book that was left for guests. House had everything we needed including toiletries and extra blankets. Visiting the state park nearby was a highlight. Did not care for the camera in the backyard that I could hear every time I walked by while playing bocci ball. Recommend taking food with since there are only two bars and a dollar general in town. Emily was kind enough to drop off extra kayaks when I inquired if there were any for us to use. She also made addition accommodations for us and I appreciate that very much. We didn’t get the warmest weather so are interested in visiting again in the future. It was so quiet and peaceful here and this home had everything! So much charm! We recommend the otsego lake for more swimming. 11 for a daily pass and 15 minutes up the road. Great place would highly recommend this charming home to anyone who enjoys a great Northern Michigan River experience. My wife felt instantly at home in this well maintained house.
