RELAX OFF THE BEATEN PATH!

This is one of the very few nightly rentals that provides an automatic backup generator in the event of power outage to south Brewster County.

Bring your camera and get ready to relax! Drive or Fly-in! The choice is yours.

We take great pains to insure that our facility is sanitized and disinfected as much as possible between visiting guests.

This is a 107 acre property full of wildlife, cactus, birds and hiking. This is a NON-smoking and No Pet rental. There is a $250 fee for violation of either of these policies. This property is accessible by car (the last 3 miles is a well maintained gravel road). The RV is a 34' 2018 Jayco Eagle Series bumper pull with two queen beds. This RV is equipped with huge flat screen TV, wifi, bluetooth stereo, double-door refrig/freezer, oven, range, outdoor gas grill, a gas griddle and a wood fired barbque pit with mesquite provided. This also comes equipped with 2 factory A/Cs and central heat, coffee pot with timer and a counter top icemaker. You will also find on-site a large charcoal/wood bar-b-q pit and lots of mesquite wood to cook with.

Also at the disposal of the customer is a 10'x 45' covered wooden deck with chairs and a ceiling mounted mister system for hot summer days. Beautiful views of Bell Mountain, White Horse Mtn and the Christmas Mtns can all be seen from this vantage point, none more than a mile and a half from the porch. This deck is also equipped with five 8' roll down screens for additional comfort from extreme heat. Of course there is a propane gas fire pit and a Chiminea with ample pinion pine firewood for cold winter days and nights. Enjoy the viewing of scaled quail, eurasian and white winged doves, mule deer, javelina, fox, coyote, ravens and red-tailed hawks. Blackbear, mountain lions and bobcats have also been seen close to the house. Absolutely no hunting or discharge of firearms is allowed. This home is completely dependant on rainfall. We request that all visitors limit their water consumption. These quarters come with a 6 gallon water heater which helps reduce long showers. Due to the various types of wildlife in the area and customer allergies, we have a no pet policy that is strictly enforced. There is also a $250 fee for violation of this policy.

There is a home on-site which is the owners private residence and customers are not permitted with it's use. The RV is located under a carport next to the owner’s home. If you Fly-in, we can arrange to have you picked up and provide you a 6-person UTV for rental if requested.

Area attractions include but are not limited to: Big Bend National Park (with access to a rowboat ride into Old Mexico for lunch and shopping), Big Bend Ranch State Park, Terlingua Ghostown, Lajitas Golf Resort, a beautiful River Road trip along the Rio Grande to Presidio, TX, chartered rafting down the Rio Grande through Santa Elena Canyon or Boquillas Canyon, and dinner at the Starlight Theatre in the ghostown. You are welcome to bring your own mountain bikes, ATV’s or UTV’S and ride out right from your front door. This property is a scenic 40 minute drive from the National Park.

Closer to home (1/2mile south) , you will find the Terlingua Ranch Headquarters office open 7 days a week, along with a cabana and bath house at the swimming pool. The ranch headquarters area also has a 7 day a week/ 3 meals a day café known as "The Bad Rabbit". There is also a laundromat located very close to the mgmt. office where they also sell bagged ice, logo T-shirts, wine glasses, caps and koozies.

If you are fortunate enough to have owners Mark and Michelle there on a visit at the time of your stay, you will surely benefit from their knowledge of the area and their ability (price negotiable) to take you on a UTV guided tour of more of the unknown areas of the 225,000 acre Terlingua Ranch.

There is a 10%discount on the nightly rate for Veterans. Copy of military ID card required. Call Mark at 806-781-7814, please leave a message.

  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

Michelle was very communicative and followed up how my sister and I were doing on our trip. She was patient with me when I misread my booking. I thought it was a casita but apparently, it was an RV.

I booked this trip for my husband and our 3 adult children( 21,21, 23) home from college. I wanted them to enjoy themselves right before Christmas. I was told how wonderful their experience had been. Everything went so well. Communication was wonderful, directions easy, the set up was clean and comfortable, and the feeling was like visiting family. After the long days of hiking they enjoyed the hot tub for sure. The abundance of wild live was very welcoming. My family loved the interaction with the hosts and the helpful advice and information they shared.

The RV was clean and comfortable with all necessary items(bath, kitchen, linens) provided. There is a large refrigerator, so you can bring your own food (recommended, as it’s 32 miles to the nearest store or restaurant). The steps up into the RV could be an issue for a person with mobility problems as they are steep. Very comfortable bed. This IS an RV, so bathroom odor is noticeable; it's a good idea to bring your own fragrances to combat the smell. The property this is on is fantastic, exactly what we went to Big Bend for. It is isolated enough for a camping experience but easy enough to travel for other activities. We enjoyed bird watching from the covered porch, as well as a regular parade of foxes, deer, javelinas, and quail ( apologies if I missed anyone 😉.) The stars at night are unbelievable, we went on the dark of the moon. There is good water, use it sparingly as this is the desert. The hosts are wonderful people, they encouraged us to treat this as our home. We very much enjoyed sitting on the porch and hearing stories of the area. Ask the host before visiting about excursions they provide, we missed the opportunity but plan to next time.

The RV was very clean and they had a lot of things that we didnt bring, like cups, plates and coffee for the machine. We are also very thankful that they answered the phone very late at night (almost midnight) because we locked ourselves out accidentally and they gave us instructions on how to get back in. Thank you Michael and Michelle for being so kind during our stay and including our accidental lock out!

Mark and Michelle were such warm and friendly hosts who shared so much knowledge and information with us. We really enjoyed "porch sitting" and watching the wildlife, including deer, javelinas, foxes and various birds. Getting there was a dusty endeavor, but what do you expect in the desert? Great weekend stay!

Perfect Getaway!

This property is a little further from the Big Bend Park than we have normally stayed. But oh, was it worth the extra drive! If youve never stayed in the Terlingua Ranch, I highly encourage you to try it! The stars at night are so vibrant, with absolutely zero light pollution interference. The owners of this property were such a delight to visit with. They have gone out of their way to ensure that your stay is comfortable, enjoyable, and most of all memorable. We enjoyed evening visitors such as deer, javelina, rabbits and an abundance of birds, including hummingbirds! (The owners even told us that an occasional bear shows up too!)We absolutely enjoyed our stayed and hope to return!

Nice anniversary trip

We came for our anniversary. Mark and Michelle are wonderful. We sat out each night watching the stars. We even set an alarm to get back up to see the milky way. Amazing with no ambient light. Accommodations were plenty big for the 2 of us. Bring a flashlight. Hello Chula!

Desert Wildlife Oasis

We booked this lodging as a base of operations for day trips into Big Bend National Park. When initially driving in to the property, the location seemed remote. But for us, that turned out to be a wonderful advantage. We loved our hikes in BBNP, with the Chisos Basin area our favorite. Yet we saw much more birds and other wildlife just outside our door at Casita de Chiles. Our sightings included deer, quail, fox, jack rabbit, coyote, javelina, and a wonderful array of exotic bird life, many of which I was able to photograph. The sweet relaxing sound of avian calls serenaded us from sunrise to sunset. The Casita itself was beyond our expectations. All possible amenities were provided, including spacious bedrooms, good baths, and a great kitchen with a huge refrigerator/freezer. There were wide screen TV's in each room, though we never turned them on.Exterior amenities include hot tub, fire pits, lounge areas, and a high-end gas BBQ. Above all, the hosts Mark and Michelle, were friendly and accommodating. They love this Terlingua Ranch area and its surrounding wildlife. They go the extra mile to provide water and supplemental food for the deer and birds, turning their outback haven into a desert oasis that we, their guests, may enjoy.

Beautiful property!

We loved our stay at Mark and Michelle’s - they are awesome hosts! They met us on our arrival and made sure we had everything needed. We stayed four nights so we could spend three days at Big Bend NP. Great home base! The stars are so awesome. We are city dwellers so we especially enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area.

Big Bend

We spent 3 nights and 2 days in order to hike at Big Bend. The weather was unseasonably cold and unfortunately, the pipes froze in the trailer overnight. The owners were quick to respond and provided plenty of water for drinking and flushing. By the time we returned from our hikes the pipes had been thawed. We were advised to open the faucets overnight and had no freezing the 2nd night. We aren't sure if the listing mentioned the 3 miles of dirt road getting to the trailer but it was a bit of a challenge. It is far from the park but most accommodations are, as far as we know. The kitchen was well equiped with plenty of utensils and even condiments.

Great environment

All the comforts from home - in a stationary RV! Comfortable stay of the beaten track. The unpaved road leading up to the accomodation was bumpy. The tranquility is overpowering in a good way coming from the Houston area and yes - you can see the Milky way with the naked eye. Hosts are friendly and extremely helpful. Defintely recommend this to travellers wishing to escape to West TX

False advertising

Did not know the RV was underneath their carport, and about 50 feet from their front door. The porch had two shotguns or rifles too easily accessible to anyone. Owners were not home for the weekend, but apparently their employees were. They live on the same property. Rental is not as isolated as suggested. It did not feel safe so, we didn't stay.

Very peaceful

This was one of my best getaways I've ever had. There is plenty of exploring to be done here. Although you don't have to leave to see wildlife. The best part for me was the lack of cell service outside the property. Gave me a great opportunity to disconnect from my every day life
