FL! WALK THROUGH ON YOUTUBE! https://youtu.be/e2S9k5BfPno?feature=shared The Mango Cottage (Separate structure from our main house, "The Mango House".) As you arrive at our well lit 3-car driveway (with the only video camera on the premises) you will open the gate to our winding, tropical garden walkway (evenings are lit by a vintage peace sign) with patches of sunshine beaming through the stately old mango trees. (We have 5 mango trees on the property.) The cottage entry has a private patio area with an attractive modern divider (offering a mini-gas griddle for outside grilling upon request) with 2 lounge chairs and a table for 4, shaded under our mango colored umbrella. The scenery is "guarded" by our metal eagle with a 4' wing span (formerly the finial from the original Pompano Beach Bank) overlooking a lush, green back yard, lone mango tree and a 10' yellow Elder flowering bush (almost) always in bloom. At night, our 4' hanging star and a canopy of tiny lights will brighten your Florida evening. Once you enter The Mango Cottage, you are immediately impressed with its vaulted ceilings, invigorating "whisper quiet" air conditioning, calming window views and fresh Floridian decor, featuring some of the artwork from watercolorist, photographer and property owner, John Coté. The bedroom has an incredibly comfortable king size bed with (4 king pillows) soft linens, a seating area and large walk-in closet. John's most recent panoramic photograph "Silver King Sunset" has found its place above the king size bed! The unexpected tarpon jumping during the early evening colors gives quite a romantic tone! There is also a large wooden luggage bench suitable for 2 carry-ons. NOTE: Feel free to move luggage bench into walk-in closet, if you prefer. Make sure you utilize the Bluetooth (HOMEWERKS (MangoCottage) for your music pleasure, accessed in the bathroom! Music icon must be selected in bathroom light pad. Your selections can easily be enjoyed throughout cottage. In the living area, there is a modern "Florida orange" chair near some of John's watercolors and across from the roomy Bahamian-style futon (with a queen firm mattress, also with soft linens), which overlooks John's newest panoramic photograph - "6 Storms" from Flamingo, FL, at the cottage entry - Yes, John captured from his vantage point, actually 6 separate, darkened rainclouds storming all in a row against the wild open Flamingo waterway! Part of any conversation, will be relaxing at the modern bar-height dining table for 4, along side of the lit bar with its wine glasses for 4\. Perfect for entertaining, to watch a movie or concert in this, your cozy Mango Cottage! The Mango Cottage includes WIFI, 2 tv's, a full kitchen with large and deep stainless steel sink with a mini 18" dishwasher and tropical fine dinnerware. The view from the kitchen sink window and bedroom window is the lush green, impressive mango tree + a blossoming tree with lovely fragrance. The large mango tree offers a hammock (upon request). Note: Mango trees typically flower in January/February. By the way, we offer our very own frozen ORGANIC Mango Pureé from our bountiful Mango crop so you can create your own tropical smoothie (blender provided). We would be happy to deliver our frozen mango packets to your freezer upon your request while still available. In addition, The Mango Cottage offers 2 beach chairs (stored by gate hose station), a sand umbrella with shoulder strap for easy carrying and 2 black "turtle" beach towels rolled and placed inside the hot pink beach tote to use during your stay (stored on the hooks in the utility room). At the inside of the cottage gate and walkway, there is a hose for your personal use to wash off sand from feet, chairs, etc... For our Canadian travelers, we have a cribbage board and cards (Upon request). Travelers: Vancouver, British Columbia, Calgary, Alberta, Magog, Quebec, and Victoria, British Columbia! There is also a spacious laundry room inside The Mango Cottage with Samsung washer and dryer. Two extra large, thicker towels (striped) that are ONLY for the outside lounge chairs are kept on top of dryer. There are also, a few white towels and smaller rags kept in utility room left cabinet for drying dogs or for random uses, as well. The Mango Cottage property is right on the quaint Kester Park, where a pavilion is available (for rent with the city or random availability) alongside the sand volley ball court, 2 manicured, newly constructed, state-of-the-art youth baseball fields and adjoining playground, in our "Pet Friendly" neighborhood where you will meet many who walk their dogs. The Mango Cottage welcomes dogs! We have kennels (lg/small) available (upon request) but definitely required for non-housebroken furry friends. We also have a large fenced in backyard that will bring joy to your dog\[s\] as they romp around. However, we do require that your dogs be supervised at all times while outside. Note: A 2 minute drive to Canine Corner Dog Park requires a Current Rabies "actual" certificate (not just a tag!), application and fee. See Pompano Beach city website for information. Be on the lookout for sightings of our neighborhood wildlife: • fox (He walks down east side of our property on NE 9th Avenue in the wee hours and ends up at the sand volley ball courts. Look for the bushy tail!) • hawks (& osprey) • owls (several species) Note: 2024, we had a family of Great Horned Owls living just across our home! • red-headed/bellied woodpeckers • Brazilian green parrots • white egrets and Ibises • land tortoises • iguanas & cuban night anoles • squirrels • opossums • raccoons • Song birds in abundance, like cardinals, doves, mockingbirds, bluejays, yellow/purple finches and Baltimore orioles. ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: There is a 5 mile bike and jog/walk trail (just 4 blocks away) that winds around the Greg Norman Signature Pines Golf & Driving Range, airport and horse stables. You can't miss where the locals congregate at the expansive Galuppi's Restaurant & bar, located right on the golf course and jogging trail! Showcasing its new outdoor stage with front seating lounge and water views (Can be reserved for dining & show). And then there is their outside (massive tv) and inside table cloth dining. \*\*\*Holidays and weekends they book very talented local bands and artists!\*\*\* NOTE: On St. Patrick's Day they have a bagpiper! A special treat, is the home of the iconic Good Year Blimp Base. Yes, every pro or college game or event, anywhere in South Florida, has the Good Year Blimp flying overhead! If you're lucky, catch the blimp take off or land! The Blimp flight pattern usually flies directly over The Mango Cottage - quite a sight! This trail also offers the Pompano Beach Air Park. • Feel like taking off in your private jet or plane for a week of South Florida fun? • Ever wondered what it would take to learn to fly? Well, register for one of their local and highly accredited flight schools and cross that off your Bucket List! We are 2 minutes from many athletic amenities: • Aquatic Center & Community Pool NOTE: We just received a fantastic report about the Pompano pool: 1\. Inexpensive $6ish 2\. Heat during cool weather and Cool water during the hot weather! • LA Fitness • Pompano Beach Tennis Center with 16 lighted clay courts • 16 Pickle Ball lighted courts PICKLEBALL: One of our guests recently commented that Pompano is centrally located to at least 5 fantastic Pickleball facilities: 1) Pompano Community Park with 14 lighted courts - walking distance 2) The Fort with 43 new pickleball courts in Fort Lauderdale 3) Diadem Indoor Courts in Coconut Creek 4) Holiday Park with 6 outdoor courts 5) George English Park with outdoor courts in Fort Lauderdale SHORT DRIVE OR WALK: Note: 2.1 mile walk to public beach. Just a 3 minute drive east on Atlantic Boulevard will take you to family owned Gianni's - Italian dining at its finest. Then continuing east of US 1 towards the Intra-coastal bridge, will bring you to Flanigan's, known for its ribs and fresh Mai Mai. You can't miss the life-size saltwater fish mounts of every local species! Also a large saltwater aquarium and tv's at every diner's viewing. Directly across the street, there's 5-Star restaurant Café Maxx with its American creations. Café Maxx now offers Cooking Classes! It is a very comfortable, private cottage with many thoughtful 'extras'. It is clear that the hosts, John and Michelle, take pride in their cottage. It is nicely decorated with lovely artwork, is very clean and comfy. They were very kind and attentive to our needs and offereded suggestions on restaurants and coffee shops in the area. We would definitely stay here again, next time we're in Florida. Thank you for the yummy Mango that you left in the freezer... our smoothie was delicious!! ##### Darcy W. John and Michelle were extremely welcoming and were ready to answer any questions I had. The apartment exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Most VRBO's I have rented look like someone grabbed the furniture that someone else was throwing away and used it in the rental. This place feels like you are staying at a friends house. Everything is just really nice. I was in town for a scuba class and the location was perfect for that. Also I had access to a hose so I could rinse my gear. Top that off with free mangos and dehydrated mangos, and it was an outstanding experience. This will be my first choice for lodging next time I am in the area. ##### John V. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Mango Cottage. The hosts couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. They have everything you need there for the beach, so don’t worry about packing beach towels, beach bag, chairs, umbrella, etc. And the kitchen is so well stocked with everything, including “glass” wine glasses, as well as plastic for outdoors. They perfectly balanced 1) communicating approachability & accessibility with 2) showing respect for guests' private enjoyment of the cottage, patio & yard. The listing refers to the availability of mango puree & a hammock upon request. I requested both before arriving, & both were available to us. With the availability of an ice maker & blender, I enjoyed mango smoothies for breakfast. One of my favorite memories of enjoying the cottage was finishing a good book in the hammock. Its location in a grand mango tree allowed me the comfort of shade while immersed in warm greenness. The hosts thoughtfully placed a mat on the ground beside the hammock for removing sandals before reclining. Nighttime stargazing from the patio was nice too.The location was good for taking in the community on foot. My friend & I walked just under a mile to visit a monthly block party called "Old Town Untapped" hosted outside the Bailey Contemporary Arts Center. We enjoyed seeing art available for purchase from local vendors as well as a broad array of food trucks, including vegetarian & vegan options. As two woman walking back to our cottage after sundown, we walked with customary vigilance but no fear.The location was 1.4 miles from two grocery stores and closer to Walgreens & CVS locations. Our walk to the public beach was 2.1 miles. The cottages' TV are smart TVs allowing access to streaming apps. The cottage was very clean & as pictured. ##### Laura O. We stayed at the Mango Cottage for two (2) weeks in January 2025\. We stay at a lot of VRBO rentals and this is one of our best finds - highly recommended! Definitely stay there again. Very current décor with nice art and well stocked. Clean, spacious and as advertised for the two of us and our dog. The hosts are great. Loved the property, trees and fenced in yard. Close to the beach and lots of great restaurants in the area. Highly recommend Houston's restaurant about 2 miles away - best in area in our opinion. Nice area to go for walks and a park right across the street. We played pickleball everyday at the Pompano Community Park which was less than 2 miles away - great place for pickleball players of all levels. Even had some fun at the nearby Casino! ##### Michael L. They’ve thought of every detail. I stayed at the Mango Cottage for 11 nights and will happily return on my next visit to the area. It’s a perfect set up for 1-2 people and a dog or two. It’s small but not too small. I’m 6’4” and the king size bed is comfy. Huge closet and nice washer/dryer in a separate area. Hot water and great water pressure. VERY clean throughout. Decent size yard that is fenced in. There’s a beautiful park directly across the street for playing ball with your dog or walks. Quiet neighborhood in a great, central location. 1/2 mile to the pickle ball & tennis courts and aquatic park for swimming laps. LA Fitness is also about 1/2mile. We stayed at the Mango Cottage for about a month and a half when I moved to the area from out of state. John & Michelle were the sweetest hosts and were so helpful! They were welcoming to us and our dogs and really made the Mango Cottage feel like home- which was amazing when I was in a new state where I knew next to no one. I was lucky and got to enjoy the tail end of mango season, and let me say, these mangos were the best I have ever had!! They were both available and accessible whenever we needed anything and provided great recommendations for the area- even offering contact information for people to help us find a permanent place to move in the area! John & Michelle made us feel like family and I will always be appreciative to them for that! The Cottage was the perfect size for us and had everything we needed! It looks just like the pictures and was nice and clean when we arrived! Michelle reached out before our stay to make sure the Cottage would be stocked with anything we would need and confirm some details about our stay. The backyard is lovely, my dogs loved running around and the outdoor table is great to sit and eat dinner at. Location is great! Just a few minutes to the beach, lots of great restaurants nearby, grocery stores and drug stores are all close.
