Just 2.5 miles from downtown, yet a stones throw from all the outdoor adventures in the foothills, Horsetooth Reservoir, Poudre River, mountain biking & hiking. With apple trees, berries & gardens, this quiet country setting is one of the best locations in town. Soak in the Colorado sunshine w/ the passive solar design. Relax in the evenings taking in the mountain sunsets while enjoying a fire pit on the back porch. The house This beautiful modern cabin is truly one of the best retreats in the Fort Collins area. The one bedroom, one bathroom house was thoughtfully designed with comfort and aesthetics in mind. The passive solar design showers the home in sunlight while the in-radiant heating & gas fireplace provide all the warmth and comfort anyone can desire on those cold winter days. The back porch with fire-pit is the perfect place to take in our amazing Colorado sunsets. The cabin itself sits on one acre of land, next door to the hosts personal residence. So you'll have all the privacy you need while having easy access to your host if anything is needed during your stay. We are in process of transforming this land into a little food forest. On the property, you'll find apple trees, berry bushes, gardens, chickens (with as many eggs as you'd like). We do have kids, a dog (Amigo), and a cat (Rosie) who you'll likely see running around the property during your stay. Two Commuter Bikes to get into town are on site and can be used at no cost. This space is really set up well for 1-2 people. However, we did just install a sofa bed, should you need the extra sleeping space. The Location The location of this cabin is just 2.5 miles due west of downtown. Easily bike-able. The short route is straight down Laporte Avenue to downtown. Or your can connect up to the Poudre River Trail system and take the scenic route along the river. Outdoor adventure is also right out the back door. We're also a short bike ride to the foothills where you can mountain bike, hike, or play around on Horsetooth Reservoir (paddle boarding is one of our favorite things on a hot summer day). Lory State park and Horsetooth Mountain park are both within 10 minutes where you can tackle any of these activities. Or, if you're looking for something more extreme, heading up the Poudre Canyon is an option. Some of our favorite places close by are: Stodgy Brewery - 1 mile east Odell Brewery - 3 miles east New Belgium Brewery - 3 miles east Little on Mountain (our favorite restaurant) - 1.5 miles east Lory State Park - Mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding - 4 miles west Horsetooth Reservoir - 4 miles west With fresh organic eggs, the ideal location, and the beautifully designed space, you can't go wrong staying here. When you stay here, you get the peace, quite, and slower pace of the country with the convenience of being close to everything you'll need or want during your stay. Close to great trails - Poudre River Trail. Very bike-able location to downtown. And if public transit is your thing, there's a bus route at the corner of Laporte and Sunset. Please - no shoes in house if muddy. Additionally, please no pets as we have other animals on the property. My son got married nearby, so his sister and I picked this spot for our downtime. Absolutely perfect! Comfortable, stocked with fresh eggs and coffee (even a brita full of water in the fridge), clean and quiet. Danny and Dee are incredibly accommodating and take pride in this little spot. If a rooster waking you up or chickens clucking around the yard aren’t for you, this might not be your spot. I loved it all. And only about a ten minute easy drive to town for food, groceries, shopping. The place was spotless, and the bed was super comfortable. The decor is minimal but intentional and so well done—even with live plants to make it feel homey. The back porch was a dream. We had coffee (even cream and sugar provided!) there in the mornings with the fire going, enjoying the serene view with a peek of the mountains and the calm surroundings (all of the homes have lots of land). We were woken up by some wandering chickens outside the window one morning, but that’s part of the charm. We couldn’t believe how close we were to downtown Ft. Collins and then only an hour from RMNP and a half hour from an awesome hike (Greyrock) suggested by the hosts where we saw a bear (twice)! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We tent-camped most of the way so this was an incredible, luxurious, refreshing stay for us. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park, which was 1 hour away, and we only drove 4 or 5 minutes to get groceries. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed. The kids loved playing with/petting Amigo the dog, Rosie the cat, and the new baby chicks! My husband and I enjoyed a cozy fireside chat on the back porch with a beautiful, clear view of the starry sky. Everything was very clean and homey feeling. Surrounding property was quiet, safe, with a rustic farm atmosphere with easy access and parking. Home was set up with all you could need and owner was excellent with directions and communication. What a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of where I live. I can’t wait to return for my next visit! It was close to the state parks as well as the downtown area. It feels like you're halfway in the country and the city. The hosts were friendly and the entire check-in/check-out process was a breeze with good communication. They have thought of nearly everything to make your stay comfortable and inviting. The entire place was immaculately clean and I'm picky. We loved having fresh eggs for breakfast and watching the chicken wonder around the yard. The kitchen is stocked with most any item you'd need to prepare meals for yourself. There is no bathtub, but we didn't need on. The walk-in shower is large and comfortable. The bed is on the firm size, but not too hard. There were plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets. I was afraid the cement floor would be cold until I realized that the floors are heated!
