It's a nice, quiet area that provides a genuine feel for rural Portuguese life. For couples looking for a relaxed escape, staying in a converted Quinta (a traditional Portuguese estate) just outside the village centre can be ideal. While not directly in Fontão, staying slightly outside in a villa or guesthouse offers more space and easier access to family-friendly activities, such as exploring the medieval bridge, river beaches, or the equestrian centre in Ponte de Lima.

The landscapes are particularly picturesque with spring blossoms or autumn colours, making it lovely for leisurely walks or enjoying the local cuisine al fresco.
