This soulful, 2 bedroom/2 bathroom cottage tastefully fuses nostalgic charm with modern conveniences. Originally built in 1933, this vintage gem has been lovingly restored to its former glory. Once oceanfront, the building was rescued by the current owners, to save it from demolition in 2005\. Recognizing its natural beauty and “solid bones,” they adopted the home and moved it to its current neighborhood, close to shops, dining and everything downtown Folly Beach has to offer. The beach and the Folly Pier are located a very walkable 4 blocks away. This delightful cottage is a wonderful place for one or two couples, a small family, a small group of close friends, or just an individual who needs some salty breezes. Whoever you are, Folly Reclaimed is the perfect home base, for immersing yourself in the rich history and laid-back vibe of Folly Beach. The cheerful open living space includes a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and cozy living room. The kitchen is updated with stainless steel appliances and provides all you need to cook a simple or festive meal. The dining room is directly off of the kitchen. Indulge in tasty meals, conversations, or your favorite games and puzzles at the ample table for 4\. Curl up and read a good book or watch TV in the comfy living room. The spacious screened porch is a guest favorite for morning coffee, afternoon snacks, or happy hour fun. Elevated and private, this shaded retreat is a welcoming gathering place for creating unforgettable memories. Walking into the hallway, Bedroom #1 is the first room on the left. It offers a double-sized bed, chest of drawers, hanging clothing storage, and a small desk. A few steps further into the hall is a full bathroom with a compact stackable washer/dryer and a shower/tub combination. Bedroom #2 is located at the end of the hall. This is the primary "master" bedroom, featuring a queen-sized bed, large closet, 2 dressers and a full en-suite bathroom with a 4-foot stand-up shower. Each bedroom is also equipped with 2 luggage racks and a tower fan with sound options, in addition to ceiling fans, for extra cooling. Linens and bath towel sets are provided for the maximum occupancy of the home. Folly Reclaimed offers a small, private fenced-in yard for furry friends. There is a limit of 1 pet (dog only) allowed at this property, for an additional fee. Free parking on the premises includes 2 carport spaces for smaller vehicles and up to 3 spaces in the front driveways. Ride shares are scarce on the island, so please plan transportation accordingly. Check-in is 4 PM. Check-out time is 10 AM. Folly Beach downtown area is only a half block away. Wander through local shops, markets (seasonal & holidays), listen to live entertainment, and eat at one of our local restaurants. All restaurants and shops are open year-round. Stroll along Center Street to the Folly Pier or wander to the east end of the island to find the Morris Island Lighthouse, a local and tourist favorite, for wow-worthy photos! Get out on the water to take a fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, shelling, or dolphin watching tour from a licensed guide. Surfing lessons are available through several companies and instructors. Just a short, 25-minute drive will take you into historical, downtown Charleston to enjoy all of the charm that the Holy City has to offer. Location is perfect- less than 10 minute walk to the beach and 2 minutes to the main street. We had our dog with us. Lots of dog friendly places to walk nearby. A note about the area - there are a few places with outdoor music nearby. You will hear that. There is a 24-hour laundromat across the street. You might hear their visitors. There is a power station nextdoor with city vehicle parking. None of these are bad but are worth noting. Photos don’t do this place justice. We enjoyed the screened in porch and made use of the full space of the home. Large kitchen with everything you need and two very ample sized bathrooms. Bedrooms were very comfortable. They provide towels and basic items. We had plenty of room for all of us. Check in/check out were super easy. AC works REALLY well. We also appreciated the beach chairs and wagon!We did have two things not great during our stay. Big one- the washing machine had an issue. Maintenance was SUPER quick to come and able to fix - but that did put a bit of a krimp into our plans. Also, we did have some palmetto bug visitors. Now, they DO have a service for this but this is an area that is super buggy. It’s going to happen...I have two suggestions for the owners. The kitchen is fully stocked but lacking a fry pan (that would have been nice to have). There is ample parking for vehicles out front but definitely blind spots both sides from large bushes. Even walking off the property needs extra caution. ##### Sarah K. The outside hose was a bonus. The location was centrally located and although it’s close to the action, you really don’t hear much. The covered porch was nice and provided extra space. It was clean and plenty of items were provided. Having a fence around the side yard was great and it was well lit at night. Beds were nice too. Now for the negatives:There is no bathroom door in the “master” making it awkward for certain bathroom needs. The decor is slightly different than what’s shown in the photos. It smelled a little musty upon arrival. The landscaping is underwhelming. The shrubs in front make it very difficult to view oncoming traffic. The “yard” is full of pine straw. The pine straw could be the reason why we saw so many palmetto bugs in the house. Not sure what a palmetto bug is? It’s a huge roach. And they are living. And they were everywhere. It really creeped me out. The toilets are tiny (my husband wanted to make sure this was mentioned for other males). We enjoyed our trip but won’t rent this place again. The cleanliness just didn’t make up for the bugs. ##### Matt F. The house is perfectly located a block from all the bars and restaurants as well as two blocks from the beach. You need less than 5 mins walking to get to everything Folly has to offer. The house itself is charming and well stocked. The screened porch is very large and great to spend time in. The back yard is very small, but fully gated so our small dog could spend time there. The responsiveness of the property manager was great - we had an internet outage, AT&T's problem, but it was quickly addressed. Overall, we had great time and recommend this property if you want to stay on Folly Island. ##### Val L. Arrival and check in were easy as the instructions were very clear. The house was clean and tidy. I enjoyed looking at the artwork, perusing the books, and reading the Folly history provided by the host. The screened in porch may have been my favorite feature. There were blinds which allowed for more privacy as many people walk, bike, and drive down West Hudson road frequently. I also really enjoyed the location of this house - we walked around everywhere and never even had to use our car. We walked to the beach each day and used the cart and chairs provided. The cart was a bit cumbersome but it can carry a lot! The only issue we had during our stay was the hot water heater, but the owners were very responsive and had the issue fixed very quickly. Also, the 2 bedrooms each have a queen bed. I’m guessing the king is the pull out couch which could have just been an oversight on my part. Overall, I loved the history and character of this house while also appreciating the location! I would definitely stay here again. ##### Audra G.
