Kick back and take it all in. Listen to red-wing blackbirds sing and the Pacific Ocean crash onto the shoreline. Watch for bald eagles and osprey soaring overhead. Spot the curious river otters poke their furry heads out of the water while buffleheads silently glide by. Need to stretch your legs? South Jetty Beach is just minutes away. Nearby hiking trails will lead you through temperate rainforests and sand dunes. During the autumn months, chanterelle, bolete, and matsutake mushrooms are plentiful. Feeling adventurous? Slip into our kayaks, canoe, or peddle boat and paddle the Siltcoos River Canoe Trail to the ocean. Or rent ATVs to explore the dunes. Upstairs, a spacious island forms the hub of a fully stocked kitchen. The living room is centered around a smart tv connected to cable and a Bose sound system. A sliding glass door provides access to the deck and gas grill. Music connoisseurs can get their groove on with the wireless, high-fidelity sound system. There is also an en-suite bedroom with cable tv and a laundry/storage room. Downstairs there are two bedrooms with cable tv and two full bathrooms. The open floor plan accommodates a pull-out sofa, another smart tv, and a full-sized air hockey table. The library contains books, games, and guides to coastal hiking trails. A sliding glass door leads to the lower deck and hot tub. A powerful wifi system provides internet access to the inside of the house, the upper and lower decks, the hot tub area, and beyond. Outside, the garden is peppered with rhododendrons, azaleas, and mighty Doug firs. Steps lead down to a firepit and a private dock, where guests will find two single kayaks, a canoe, and a four-person pedal boat. Good dogs can chew on their bones in the small, fully fenced yard or join their humans in the garden and on the dock. Darling’s Marina is a 5-minute walk from the house. Not only does it rent boats and stand-up paddleboards, but the pub also serves brisket, burgers, and beers. Old Town Florence is 7 miles away. It offers seafood restaurants, a brewpub with organic and vegan options, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, gift shops, and art galleries. A farmer’s market opens every Tuesday from 3pm-6pm until mid-October. Perfect spot for our family vacation. We utilized the boats. The only frustration was the lack of items being stocked in the house and the incompleteness of the list of items available. The trash bags were rationed and we ran out. They have a high chair and pack and play that wasn’t on the listing. They also had adult and child life jackets which are not inventoried on the listing, Communication was slow at times with getting questions answered and other times responsive. The parking was a little challenging , you are only allowed 3 cars and we had 4 , so we went down to darlings marina and they’ll let you park for 10 a night and then either have someone pick you up or walk back….we have a lot of family in the area so when they wanted to visit it was challenging! The water was warm and the dock was nice … the steps down were very challenging!!! Like someone said in another review , if your older or have bad knees and want to go down to dock might not be able too. We were advised in advance the hot tub was not working and the property management team was very responsive with communications, and gave a small refund. However, it was disappointing because that was one of the reasons we booked it. The scenery was spectacular! Due to allowing pets, we were not surprised to find traces of pet hair but the sheets on the hideaway bed downstairs were dirty. There are a lot of stairs to get from the driveway to the house, and the stairs inside are a bit steep so is not recommended for those with knee issues. The kitchen island was big and a good space to gather when snacking or preparing meals. Again, the view is spectacular and was nice to have 3 bathrooms for a group of women.
