Add a fire pit, hot tub, plenty of outdoor recreation and indoor entertainment, six acres of private land to explore, and a stocked fishing pond, and you get a cabin that meets the entire family's vacay checklist. \-------------------------------------------- Indoor Spaces: \- Sleeping arrangements: This cabin sleeps 8, so you can bring the whole family. The primary bedroom on the main level features a king bed and an en suite bathroom with a jetted whirlpool tub. From the primary bedroom, you also have direct access to one of the balconies. A second bedroom resides on the upper level with another king bed, a TV, and access to a private balcony. Also on the upper level is a loft-style sleeping area with a queen bed, a bunk bed, and a TV. \- Main level: Experience the comfort of a private mountain lodge, with dramatic vaulted wood ceilings and a towering stone fireplace (gas-fueled, for your convenience). An open-concept kitchen is separated from the cozy great room by a bar-style peninsula, making the main level perfect for sharing a drink and spending time together. After dinner or a day out on the town, curl up in front of the large flatscreen TV on the comfortable couch and love seat. \- Upper level: Upstairs is for rest and relaxation. The spaciousness of the main level is accented by a two-story opening to the loft, where your friends and kids can enjoy their own space and privacy. \- Lower level: The upper levels are your second home, but the lower level is where the true magic happens. Venture down to find an enormous recreation and game room, complete with board games, darts, a pool table, bar seating, yet another TV, and a small fireplace. But wait, there's more! Castaway Cabin is located in Ennice, putting you within a short drive of some of the best state parks and natural areas in the region. Less than 30 minutes away is Stone Mountain State Park, where you can hike on scenic trails and chase waterfalls. Even closer is the first Blue Ridge Parkway access point in North Carolina and the historic Cumberland Knob, where construction of the parkway first began back in the 1930s. The parkway is beautiful year-round, but it transforms into an especially breathtaking landscape in the fall, when the leaves turn. \- From Castaway, you are 10 minutes away from trout fishing at Little River, or 20 minutes away from the New River, a recreational waterway that is beginner-friendly for paddlers of all experience levels. Loved the game room, hot tub, and personal balcony’s. The kitchen had any and all equipment needed to cook there. Dishes, cups, pots and pans, cooking utensils, even things you wouldn’t have thought to bring, wine opener, pancake griddle, toaster. We cooked every night the whole week, and had everything we needed to do so. If you did need something from the store, dollar general is under 10 minutes away, and Walmart is 25 minutes. We also love that you totally cater to our furry 4 legged family members. Food/water bowls, dog beds and even a jar in biscuits in the kitchen. The views in the area are awesome too. Literally 10-15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Scenic Parkway. We spent half a day on it and didn’t come close to traveling the whole 500 miles of beautiful scenery, hiking trails and winding roads. This was a getaway for just the two of us (and our fur baby) and this cabin fit the bill. While it was much more space than we needed, it’s a great house in a peaceful setting surrounded by farms and beautiful rolling hills! House is well-stocked with all the essentials. We grilled steaks one night on the gas grill; an extra tank was right there and my husband hooked it up and our steaks were on. Easy, prompt communication with the property manager. Only compaint would be the floors could have been cleaned a little better with a fresh crawling 10 month old who found what looked to be old food couple times and decent amount if dust and hair. But other then that we lived this place and wouldn't stop us from returning again! Went for our 6 year olds Birthdate and she loved it! She lived in the downstairs game room most the time which was a huge hit. The main floor has 1 bedroom with king and upstairs has another king bedroom along with queen in the loft where the bunk beds were. Beds were foam mattresses and very comfortable!! Clean, huge open rooms, well stocked kitchen, great views - we had a wonderful stay here didn’t need anything but food. If you stay here be sure to take advantage of how close the Blue Ridge Parkway is to the house, easy off and on. Mt. Airy is 25 minutes away and that is where Andy Griffith lived; Mayberry was fashioned after this town which is full of memorabilia from the show. ##### Nancy B.
