This creek is known as a class 1 trout stream. Guests can enjoy fishing, sight seeing, canoeing and kayaking the Chippewa River or Elk Lake, biking, hiking, atv/utv and snowmobile trails nearby as well. Enter a world of peace and calm deep in the woods. This is a beautiful rustic cabin that has been beautifully restored. Permit issued and inspected by Dunn County. This cabin is perfect for those looking for a cozy, no frills, rustic cabin-camping experience in the woods of western Wisconsin. The historic Log Cabin sits on the banks of the Elk Creek and was built in the 1920s. It features handmade log construction, concrete in-floor heat, a stone gas fireplace, woodstove, and a handmade door. The cabin has one bedroom (queen) and one loft (full size) area. The cabin has a bathroom with a shower, quaint kitchen, one bedroom with a queen (new sealy posturepedic pillow top) size bed, a living room with room for an air bed (bring your own), and a small loft with a full-size mattress. It also has a wood heated porch overlooking the creek. The kitchen includes a sink, oven/stove with four burners, microwave, fridge, griddle, toaster, and coffee maker. Dishes, pots, pans, eating and cooking utensils and a gas grill are provided. Dish soap and dishtowels are also provided, but dishes must be handwashed by our guests. Please note that we recommend our guests provide their own drinking water. The water is safe to drink but by preference we recommend you bring bottled water. The bedroom is simple, but spacious and features a queen bed with a night stand, lamp and dresser. The living room has a dining table with four chairs, couch, futon couch and chair (room for an air mattress-bring your own). Also a beautiful stone gas fireplace. The fireplace offers ambiance to the space and heats the cabin. Wood for the woodstove is located in the wood shed. A controllable thermostat allows guests to set the temperature of the cabin to their preference (there is a/c, however the shady location keeps the cabin cool in summer). There is also a small loft that is accessible by a ladder and has a full-size mattress on it. There is a television and a DVD player in the porch area and in the living room area. Free WiFi is now available. Chromecast is available on the television. There are board games located in the antique chest. The cabin does have a steel roof and when there is rainfall, guests will hear the rain drops. Relaxing noise for most but... Our stay at this delightful cabin on Elk Creek was in the end of October, 2025 and part of our 40th anniversary celebration. Travelling along the Great River Road from southern Wisconsin, Eau Claire was to be a layover spot as we had planned to take a day trip to the northern tip of the state and visit some waterfalls. Jolene is a superb host! Her communication with us was wonderful. While we were in route, she reached out to check on our arrival time and sent me additional directions to the cabin. We arrived at dusk and immediately felt so welcome. Lights were on in the cabin and there was a fire burning in the gas fireplace in the living room. It was at that time, we decided to change our plans. Rather than spend our first day travelling, we opted to remain at the cabin and enjoy everything it had to offer. First this place is adorable! So cozy, comfortable and beautifully decorated! The cabin is located on a creek that winds through the property. Very private and quiet. The outdoor firepit was so nice. Its a great place to enjoy the evening. Plenty of firewood and firestarters were provided! The cabin was immaculate, and it had a fully stocked kitchen. In addition gas and charcoal grills are provided. The space was absolutely beautiful and so cozy. There were many activities to do, suited for all ages. The cabin was well positioned to downtown EC, making for easy journeys into town. This cabin is SO nice, and has a beautiful story behind it, left in book form by the owners. The cabin was very clean and well stocked with supplies. The view, wood burning stove plus the fireplace made our stay in the middle of January such a warm inviting stay. Jolene was a great host! Always responding quickly and willing to be accommodating. Plus the little “hunting” game made it fun too. Highly recommend a stay here! I almost hate to reveal to much because for us it was such a pleasant surprise (better than advertised). If you like relaxation and solitude in a perfect setting along side a windy river this is the place. I think I'm going to leave some to the imagination but I really don't think you'll be disappointed. We went with our 22 year old daughter and her friend and it was enjoyed by all. I can also see this for a wedding anniversary, a birthday/xmas gift for your wife...just a wonderful weekend. Host was very communicative as well. Trust me, can't go wrong. ##### Jay S. Ideal for a couple with small kids, or a couple wanting a hideaway. So beautifully arranged and very comfortable with so many options for seating, inside and out. You can sit down by the creek, out the side by the fire pit, out the back on the grass, inside on the back porch, by the fireplace in the main living space... Easy to find, perfectly hosted, 15 minutes from the city of Eau Claire, but feels like in the middle of nowhere, make this place your next hideaway. ##### James S. Actually caught a trout in the creek next to the property and cooked it on the tripod grill. Homeowner recommended the creek downside of the dam for fishing (4 minutes away). Caught several more there but were not "keepers" Was my first time and tried the supplied kayak. At 60 years old it will be my last (more humorous than anything getting in and out). All the updates and furnishings were amazing! The cabin felt very cozy and the living spaces also felt open & spacious. The property was beautiful with the stream and mature trees. We visited Eau Claire, hiked at a nearby nature conservancy along the Chippewa River and relaxed at the cabin (we did not want to leave). We hope to return soon!
