Enjoy end-of-the-road privacy in this quintessential Colorado river cabin located within a 20 minute drive from Durango. In the mountains and on the Florida river, this is a great location as "base camp" while enjoying all that the Durango area has to offer. It’s all about the riverfront location! Outside, the wraparound deck is a great place to enjoy morning coffee, relax in the rocking chairs or fish, and it’s a great place to view the starry night skies. Fall foliage is spectacular with aspen and other seasonal trees surrounding the home, and winter snow creates a unique mountain getaway at this home. The cabin layout includes the main level with kitchen, living room, dining room and the large deck at river's edge, with both a covered section containing rocking chairs and benches, and an open area with picnic table, BBQ grill chiminea fireplace and steps leading to the lawn and riverbank beyond. The open living area and deck make a fine gathering place for friends and family. There is an AC Unit in the upstairs bedroom. Bed Configuration: Master Bedroom - King (main level) 2nd Bedroom & Loft - Queen & 2 Twins (upper level) The cabin is not pet friendly - please do not bring pets or emotional service animals. Our home has shared private Florida river access and access to Treasure Island - a shared community recreation area that's perfect for family fishing outings, picnics, and nature adventures. With Vallecito Lake a 15 minute drive, and Lemon Lake 8 minute drive from our home guests have easy access to robust fishing, boating, and paddle boarding opportunities. This home has very limited cell service. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin was not properly maintained. The coffee maker and bbq grill were not operable when we got there. The managing company did replace them but these things should be working upon the guests' arrival - kind of sets back your vacation when the essentials aren't working properly and you have to wait a day or two for coffee or to grill the meat you brought, and you don't plan to drive into town. Management company was responsive but was in reactive mode versus prepared. Sliding glass door was extremely hard to open (needed wd-40) and screen was off - they were not able to fix it though we asked. We had to walk around the house to get out to the deck which is not ideal for the price we paid for the vacation. The river was beautiful. House was relatively clean (dusty and had cobwebs); the cookware and furniture were cheap quality. Jul 18, 2024 Liked: Location Disliked: Check-in, communication #### Florida River Cabin in Durango The Florida River, outside the house, with a deck that provides an amazing front row seat, is the main attraction and the selling point of this home. Unfortunately, our experience was different than the reviews read before booking. Time had to be spent cleaning off cobwebs that covered all outdoor chairs and tables as well as the house windows, screens, and deck railings. The deck was covered in dirt, dust, and pinetree needles. Come inside and cobwebs were found in most wall corners and light fixtures. Both bathroom shower heads need to be replaced. The worst issue was the antiquated stovetop as there was no drip pan for the cast iron grill top so therefore it drained into the bottom cabinet base. As was the case with the bbq grill that was missing a drip pan and drippings drained underneath onto the deck. Both were found after the fact and required more time spent cleaning. Also under the Jenn-aire stovetop, the ductwork for the exhaust fan was supported by an old coffee can which fell aside causing it to not vent properly which in turn caused the smoke alarm to continually go off. Both the front door and rear sliding door stuck so bad we could barely open them. We did not contact Property Management because we just wanted to spend our time enjoying Durango. The location on the river was amazing. The cabin was clean upon arrival. It is a 25 minute drive into Durango, but it’s a beautiful drive.
