Amazing historic home. THE CITY OF DULUTH REQUIRES ALL VRBOs IN DULUTH TO HAVE A PERMIT. THE HAWTHORNE MANOR HAS A PERMIT PLIUP 2502-0007\. Ask for a permit number, if a VRBO in Duluth doesn't have one, find an authorized rental for your our protection. We are also inspected and approved by the Health and the Fire Departments. Amazing housekeeping team! Check the reviews for all the "very clean house" comments. Fantastic Location. Prestigious area. Huge tree filled yard bordering creek and waterfalls. This home is special. It has beautiful woodwork, 4 usable fireplaces, and tons of character. Views of Lake Superior from several rooms. The kitchen has been update with cherry cabinets and granite counters and stone flooring. There are several sitting areas to enjoy the view with a cup of coffee or to break away into a smaller group. Although the home is large enough to host a large family gathering, the home maintains a cozy atmosphere perfect for romantic getaways, or smaller groups. There is a large deck nestled in the trees with table, chairs and BBQ grill. It has the convenience of being in town but with the feel of being in the country. Wander through the wooded yard to the adjacent park and hike along the creek and water falls. Features: Cable TV, WIFI, washer/ dryer, Fitness/exercise room with treadmill and a weight machine. Patio furniture (seasonal), Play all your favorites on the baby grand piano in the living room. 2 night possible depending on schedule - The home in its self is a vacation get away, at a convenient location to all that Duluth has to offer. Family Room - Kick back at the end of the day on the leather sectional with two reclining seats and watch a movie on the big 50 inch screen TV, located in the lower level family room with a fireplace. The yard is a 1/2 city block with an array of trees and plant life. Deer are often seen walking through to nibble on the apple trees and occasional a friendly fox pounces around. It may be rare, but you may even sight a curios black bear. The yard boarders on a creek with lovely waters falls, paths, bridge and a occasional bench to sit on and just take it all in. In the winter this area is breathtaking. Large sheets of frozen water cling to the cliff walls, the air is crisp and fresh. The paths are always used, but not over used. It’s sometimes difficult to find a place to accommodate a group that large but the Hawthorne House was perfect. The communication with Theresa was excellent. She responded promptly to our questions. The check in and check out directions directions were clear and simple. We enjoyed reading about the history of this beautiful house. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. The details in the construction and the furniture are impressive. The house is more than well stocked with tons of dishes, glasses, thick towels, etc. The trail behind the house is a delight. We didn't need heat or AC while we were there and just opened a few of the many windows. One bedroom and sitting room are on the other side of the house making privacy for adults perfect. ##### Joan B. The large deck was a great place to hangout and relax while celebrating our son’s graduation from UMD. The setting was private but only a 10 minute drive to Canal Park. The house has a quirky but charming layout that accommodates a larger group nicely. Multiple people commented on how quiet they found the bedrooms. There was plenty of seating spread across a few rooms. Fireplaces were a nice bonus. A couple of the bathrooms had awkward but workable layouts. The extensive information about the history of the home provided to guests was fun to read. The beauty of the creek and dramatic waterfalls along the trail accessible from the back yard cannot be overstated. ##### Rob J.
