Veselka offers the best value for your money on Double Bay Beach. Beachfront Bliss: Enjoy 125 feet of pristine pink sand beach just steps from your door – a true rarity that provides views and unmatched tranquility. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, a bank with an ATM, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won't want to miss it. The town of Palmetto Point, less than 10 minutes from the house, has several smaller stores and a good restaurant. There is also a new grocery store called Midway Cost Cutters just 5 minutes from Veselka, which has all the basics. Upscale restaurants in the area include Pascal's at Sky Beach Club (International cuisine with Bahamian influences), Tippy's (international and fusion), The Buccaneer (Caribbean-Chinese fusion), La Bougainvillea (international cuisine), 1648 Restaurant (Bahamian cuisine inspired by European influences), Bacchus Fine Foods (gourmet restaurant and food store), the new Frigates restaurant in Governors Harbour, and two new fine dining restaurants in Governors Harbour, Frigates and The Potlach Club. The above all have live music one or more nights a week, so there is live entertainment somewhere nearby almost every night.
