Lyra Hotel Plitvice

10/10 Excellent

"Nice place considering not much around. Breakfast wast excellent there!!! Loved it!"

Plitvica Villa Prica

10/10 Excellent

"We enjoyed two lovely nights at Plitvica Villa Prica. Not only was our room clean, spacious and comfortable, but the staff (A family-run business) were welcoming, friendly and informative. In particular, Zoran provided us with much practical advice on accessing the national park from their property, but some political and historical insights as well, which we found very telling and interesting. The breakfasts were plentiful and varied, and we were more than happy to eat dinner there too. If we were to find ourselves in the area again, we would definitely stay at their beautiful family home."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Donji Lapac?

The best area to stay in Donji Lapac is generally the village centre itself, as it offers the most convenience and access to local amenities.Donji Lapac is a small, quiet village in the Lika region of Croatia. The central area is characterised by its main street, which features a few local shops, a small market, and a couple of traditional eateries. It's a very compact area, making it easy to navigate on foot. You'll find the local church and community buildings here, giving it a modest, authentic feel. For travellers seeking a tranquil escape and a base for exploring the natural beauty of the Lika region, staying in the village centre is ideal. It provides easy access to the surrounding countryside for activities like hiking and cycling, and you're never far from essential services.

When is the best time to go to Donji Lapac?

The best time to visit Donji Lapac is generally during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the natural surroundings are at their most appealing.During late spring, the landscape is lush and green, and the temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is excellent for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the nearby Uvac River canyon without the intense heat of summer. It's also a great time to see the local flora in bloom.Early autumn offers similarly comfortable temperatures, usually between 10°C and 20°C, and the changing colours of the leaves create a picturesque backdrop. This season is ideal for those who enjoy photography or prefer a quieter experience, as the peak summer crowds have dispersed. It's also a good time for local food and wine experiences, as many harvests occur during this period. While summer (July to August) can be warm, with temperatures often exceeding 25°C, it's also a popular time for families. The warmer weather is great for swimming in rivers or lakes and enjoying longer daylight hours. However, it can be busier, and some outdoor activities might be less comfortable due to the heat.Winter (November to April) sees colder temperatures, often dropping below freezing, and snowfall is common, transforming the area into a winter wonderland.
