It has a fantastic view of the surrounding mountain range at 1,050 meters above sea level. Much of this island is part of the Yakushina National Park and also a World Natural Heritage site. *From the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo, it's about a 6km-hike round trip. Some places have a clear path, others a pink ribbon is your only guide. But it is an easy hiking course and a great place for beginners to explore Yakushima National Park. Shiratani Unsuikyo is famous for Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, but it's also a great hiking spot for both beginners and long-time hikers. This was on our hike up to Taiko-iwa.
