It was our first trip to the island and loved everything about it ! The house was comfortable and accommodated our group of 12! The porch was great , well furnished and locked ! The grandkids had a blast ! The layout of the house, size of bedrooms and bathrooms was great. Plenty towels. The kitchen comes up short. The stove needs to be replaced, the fridge is close behind it. There is a really nice waffle iron there, and plenty dishes and silverware. Skillets not so great. The outside shower is a water hose. We would definitely book this house again. We loved the large porch and being able to step off the steps onto the beach. The kitchen pots, pans, plates, glasses and utensils were more than adequate for our large family! We had plenty of bath towels, wash clothes, hair dryers, extra blanket and pillows. There was an ironing board and iron. The sand toys were a bonus. We knew from previous reviews that we needed to bring our own spices, groceries, coffee filters, extra toilet paper(we ended up not needing), extra paper towels, extra trash bags, extra dish soap, so we planned and made a stop by Aldi. Sep 4, 2024 #### Fantastic Stay! This is a beautiful home with space enough for 10\. The house was clean and loved that it was right on the beach. Waking up and sitting on the covered deck and then hanging out there in the evening was so relaxing. Also the use of the beach tent they had was a lifesaver from the summer sun. We saw dolphins everyday and loved the location further down the island. It was next to a public swim area, however we had no problems with people taking the beach in front of us. There are only a few small things I would like as a quest at this specific beach house that would make me want to come back every year. Beach towels, I know it sounds minimal but these are bulky to pack and have been offered at all other beach houses I have stayed. Trash cans in the bathrooms and a few basics in the kitchen like foil or wrap would be nice. None of these are game changers, they would just make this house a 10/10!!!! ##### Dawn S. Dec 14, 2023 #### Great location The house is right on the water with a nice big deck to sit on and enjoy the ocean views and sounds. The house has a great lay out and is spacious for a large group. The kitchen has enough utensils and pots and pans to cook a good meal but for one good sauce pan and pasta pot, the quality is poor. While we enjoyed our stay and the house, it could use a little tlc. Most of the shelves in the upper cabinets can’t be used because they are missing pegs that keep them in place. The walls are scuffed and could really use some paint. As so many previous guests have commented, the curtains in the ocean bedrooms are so sheer you are forced to wake up with the birds. Apr 22, 2024 #### License to Chill review Home was very clean and inviting. The deck is amazing and if the weather had been nicer we would have spent a lot of time there. The beds in the bunk room squeaked loudly if you moved the slightest bit which lead to those guests not sleeping well. My car got stuck due to the large amount of loose sand in the middle of drive which lead us to needing to park just after you turn off road. Thankfully, a good neighbor helped us. This might be a common occurrence in this area due to close proximity to the beach, but it would have been nice to be warned we might need four wheel drive. We did have lots of problems getting in/out of the driveway, often getting stuck in the sand that was very deep and having to push vehicles out. We also did not have any satellite throughout the entire stay which was reported the first night and someone came to check but was unable to fix at that time and we never heard back. The back deck stairs also move a lot when walking up/down and appear as if they need more support. Finally we had very strange power issues where the lights and appliances would go in/out like we were going to lose power for the last two days. We first thought this was a wind issue but no other houses around us had the same problem. We did enjoy our stay but it seems as if the house could use some maintenance. ##### Jenny B. It is beautifully decorated. We cooked and had adequate tools in the kitchen. We had 4 adults with all kinds of sewing tables and machines for a quilt retreat. We had plenty of room for all that! The communication with Vacasa was good through email and texting. We submitted a maintenance request for an annoying kitchen faucet that just would not turn off, and they put in a work ticket, but it still wasn’t fixed 3 days later when we checked out. The internet is painfully slow. Someone needed to do a zoom meeting that didn’t work well. It is a rural part of AL, so probably not a lot of internet providers to compete. The TV was great for the game on Saturday, though! I would absolutely love to come back and stay here again, assuming I don’t need internet access. I have used VRBO to book our MANY family vacations for over 6 years now. I have never had a bad experience, nor gave a bad review until now. This property is managed by Vacasa. Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed is how close you are to the water. This little island is beautiful and we were so excited! As we carried our luggage up the stairs we were greeted by 2 large Palmetto Cockroaches. Because the were outside we initially brushed it off. Entering the property it was okay, furniture in the living room needs a MAJOR upgrade as does the Mattress in both of the rooms that lead out onto the deck. Kitchen is minimally stocked. The home had a weird musty smell. At the time I felt the location and views made up for it.... until we started seeing german cockroaches- In all areas of the home. As we inspected further we noticed mold, possibly black mold, coming out of the vents in the bedroom. Water damage was noted on the return air vent right near the washer/dryer area. The washer had mold as well and needs to be DEEP cleaned asap! Our internet was out several times we were there. Most of the lights(lamps) and TVs were unplugged when we arrived which was odd. The bed frame is one room is broken- we ended up sleeping on an air mattress. The stairs leading to the beach are seriously scary. They need repair asap. The are not propertly installed and are on the verge of failure. This place needs some major TLC. We packed up with our infant 2 days after arriving. ##### Jennifer M.
