You will enjoy touring "the island that time forgot" on either a rented golf cart or bikes, which are both available for rental. And there's no better place for nice long walks!  
  
The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see hundreds of these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be seen now and then, and some lucky visitors can actually catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.  
  
You will want to spend time exploring the rest of this unique and special island. Accessible only by ferry, Daufuskie's isolation from the hustle and bustle of the mainland provides a one-of-its-kind experience for those looking to truly get away from it all.

NOTE: It is necessary to take a passenger only ferry to Daufuskie Island. We can help you with the logistics by providing options for ferry/water taxi, booking ground transportation from the dock to the rental and renting your golf cart. Fees Apply

A 4-passenger golf cart is included for any reservation created on or after 12/31/25   
  
Check in is 4pm and check out 10am.   
  
PET POLICY:  
  
Well-behaved canine family members are welcome, but must be adult dogs, housetrained, must stay off of furniture, not be incessant barkers, and must be friendly towards humans and other dogs. Upon departure, the vacation home should look as though no pet had been in it, including removal of pet hair. There is a pet fee of $125 for one dog, and $175 for two dogs.  
  
 In addition, the property manager must approve all pet requests. Your dog must be over one year old, not be aggressive towards people or other pets, be house trained, will not get up on the furniture, and is ok with being left alone when you are away from the cottage (e.g., no incessant barking or destructive behavior). We also ask that you be a responsible pet owner when the dog is outside, that there will be no signs that your pet was in the property when you depart, and that you will be responsible for any damage and/or extra cleaning caused by your dog.  
  
Interaction with Guests:  
  
Concerned about the logistics of coming to a bridge-less island? No need to worry! Guests receive information and assistance from the DRG team, all of whom live on the island and who are available 24/7 for any problems. Team members strive to create a stress-free and enjoyable adventure for their visitors, and to ensure that their Daufuskie experience creates lasting and once-in-a-lifetime memories.  
  
Daufuskie Rental Group is not responsible for the availability (or lack thereof) of any amenity beyond our control, such as the restaurants, museum, etc.

#### Great Getaway!

My husband, son and I stayed in Dafauskie Island during Spring Break. We had a great time! The Oceanfront Cottage was awesome! It was very clean and it had everything we needed. I loved being able to look out the big windows towards the ocean. The walk to the beach was short and easy. They have beach chairs and you would just need to bring your own beach towels. It was nice being able to ride around in the golf cart. We really enjoyed our visit to the museum, where we learned quite a bit of Dafauskie’s history. Communication with the rental group was easy. We would definitely love to return!

#### Stunning water views and sunrises 

This cottage is adorable and so well laid out. I love the two chairs in front of the window with the most stunning views of sunrise and tides. A wonderful way to start your day with coffee and soaking in The beautiful day. Loved the golf cart transportation and the ease of it being ready when we arrived. I struggled a little with the keypad lock but finally managed. The weather was cool and would have loved to use the gas fireplace to take the chill off but could not get it to work ..:I did not ask for help but am sure the rental group would be responsive The only thing I would suggest is maybe replacing the all bed pillows A really amazing location and I would recommend it to anyone for a great vacation.

#### Amazing Time at a stellar house

This is an amazing property. The house sits right across the path from the beach, and right next to a beach club with fabulous food, and terrific pools. Plus we had the wonderful opportunity to see a sea turtle emerge from the ocean, and make a nest for her babies in the sandy beach behind the house! The rental company folks who live on-island are very nice, helpful and responsive to issues that arose during our stay. We left our extra non-perishable unopened food in a bag on the counter to support local families. It’s a nice way to give back a little to this island and the nice folks who will welcome you here! FYI: bring food, beach towels, dish soap and trash bags. Have fun on Daufuskie!

Overall couldn’t have been better. Only complaint was that we couldn’t pick up a golf cart from the dock, had to shuttle to house to then get cart. Otherwise awesome

#### Great Beach Cottage

We had a wonderful stay! This was our second time coming to Daufuskie and we love the island. The house was clean, as advertised, and had a great view of the beach. We would definitely stay here again!

This is our 3rd time renting a cottage on Melrose and this was my favorite one. The house was clean and comfortable with great decor. The location is great being in the end, esp with the pool open now.

#### Girls weekend

We had a fantastic time on Daufuskie island for the weekend. The Sea Horse cottage was perfect for our small group. We loved being right at the ocean front. The cottage was clean, updated, decorated nicely and had all of the amenities to get us started for a lovely weekend. Would definitely stay there again.

#### Labor Day weekend at Melrose on Daufuskie

Overall very nice cottage/home. On the beach and only a few steps from the ocean. Clean, well appointed home. Coffee maker and BBQ grill did not work, but called/texted manager and it was addressed in a few hours. Only negative was the the home lacked outdoor living space, ( porch and/or deck). Unfortunate because the views were great and having a deck or screened in porch would have been wonderful.

#### Beach cottage was very comfortable, just a few steps from the ocean, and provided all necessities.

Preperty met all expectations. It was clean, directly on the ocean and had all the necessities for a comfortable week's stay. It was located on a beautiful part of the island and transportation was by golf cart provided by the host. Plan to return next year.
