Bishop Arts District

Dallas

A street with American flags, a sign for 'Epiphany', and a building with dried corn decorations.
A house with outdoor seating and a sign reading "Laughing Willow."
A blue house with a porch, surrounded by trees and a sign for voting.
Bishop Arts District with storefronts, benches, and cars parked on the street.
A street lined with brick buildings, cars parked along the road, and people walking.

Just outside the city centre, this charming neighbourhood exudes a trendy and eclectic ambiance, with a friendly community and many boutique stores and galleries.

Among the most distinctive neighborhoods in Dallas, the Bishop Arts District is a hub of creativity and design. It showcases a range of quirky and independent boutiques and cafés that complement the idiosyncratic galleries and museums. Go window-shopping and enjoy a stroll with your family along the pleasant avenues.

Browse among the items in various vintage fashion stores and antique shops. Relax in a coffee shop and watch people going by.

To fully appreciate the local culture, watch a movie at the Texas Theatre and sit in the spot where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the shooting of a police officer and assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Watch a live music performance at The Kessler. For jazz concerts and theatrical performances, check the schedule at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center. In the evening, alternative bars serve craft beers, while fashionable cellars provide wine.

For a change of scenery, practice your swing at the Stevens Park Golf Course. Bring your kids to see the great range of animals at the Dallas Zoo. Attend some of the various events put together in this area, including wine walks and festivals.

Consider the rich history of the zone, which was one of the busiest trolley stops in the first half of the 20th century. Its buildings and warehouses have since been renovated and reinvigorated. Today the area has more than 60 retail shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and art galleries.Note that the open hours of the independent shops vary.

The Bishop Arts District is in the southwestern part of Dallas. Drive southwest from Downtown Dallas for 4 miles (6 kilometers) to get here in about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Buses also take passengers from the city center to several spots around this zone.

While in the area, make sure to visit other surrounding neighborhoods such as Kessler, Cedars and Winnetka Heights.
